USNA Class of 2028 Waiting and Speculating

The Portal updated at Midnight last night:
Fully Qualified Offer of Appointment !!
Revisiting one of the 3 big Ivies today with an NROTC Scholarship offer. DS is on the fence.
I’m still rooting for USNA (and trying to keep my mouth shut) but I think the allure of the Ivies may win out.
Believe it or not, he says the civilian schools have shown more love and he wants to go where he’s wanted. If this offer came in a month ago, I think he’d have already committed to USNA.
These are champagne problems.
Good luck to everyone out there still Pending.
Congrats to you son!! USNA is not for everyone and if he was appointed after such a rigorous selection process I don’t doubt he’ll do good anywhere else. There is so many more wanting to serve!

DS is still pending in Florida. Out of curiosity, those that are pending. What major is your DS or DD plan on studying? My DS is looking to major in Aerospace Engineering.
DS (NC 06) and is also still pending (at least as of last evening; he's been at swim practice since 5am so I don't know if there's any new info). He also intends to major in Aerospace Engineering. Plan B is Auburn University.

This gives me some hope. I’m currently a Junior stopped doing wrestling after sophomore year. I was not, and in general, the varsity athletes have wrestled since a very young age. Now, I train jiu jitsu a couple days a week and have really focused on attaining leadership positions. If you don’t mind me asking what extracurricular’s did you participate in? What was your GPA and SAT/ACT?
Oh I’m sorry, I meant I wasn’t a recruited athlete lol. I ran xc and track all of hs (Varsity for three years, team captain for two; no track this year though). But beyond those I’m also an NHS officer, member of JROTC, and a volunteer firefighter.

They are exposed to everything the Academy has to offer before they make a decision, they are encouraged to talk to advisors and upperclassmen in any of the carrer paths
That’s one of the coolest things they offer

So I'm assuming I didnt make it to the USNA since they have until the 15th to tell me, and I haven't been called by my congress man yet. It's the 13th...
Not everyone calls. My oldest’s didn’t. The appointment just showed up one day.

And USNA states that *most* will find out by April 15. Which is the goal. And as we all know, things can go ‘not according to plan’. Some years the date has moved left or right by a couple days.

Plus, it’s NOT April 15th yet. And yes they work weekends.

Who knows, there are people here who may have an appointment and be in that “holding period” given to MOC’s to notify you. Which is typical 2-3 days before your portal updates.

You are, quite simply, IN IT until you are notified you aren’t.

Good luck!

As said before, not every MOC calls. My congressman did not call to notify me about any of my appointments.

I am wondering what the schools parking lot looks like with most of seniors driving to school themselves.
There’s so much parking available it’s not even an issue. Not as many accidents as you would think too! Lots of security and police presence all day. It’s honestly really impressive!
