I am still waiting to be accepted to the NASS. I am wondering if because I said I was only available for the second week that perhaps my wait has been longer. I applied on the first day the application opened.

I have already been accepted to the USMA SLS and USAFA SS.

I have a 3.7 GPA (31/458)

IB Diploma Candidate
Technology Academy

PSAT's (R 590, W 590, M 630)

DECA Vice-President (3 years state competitor)
NHS member
City's Human-Services Commissioner (commissioned by Mayor)

Varsity Wrestling 3 years
XC + JV participation in Football, Judo, Track and Soccer)

I got accepted a month ago to session 2 with a slightly worse GPA (3.65) but better test scores (R 610 W 650 M 750) I also had Varsity Wrestling 3 years + captain and am in school council + an officer for DECA as well... Honestly, I feel like you should have been accepted to the NASS by now unless there was someone in your district that had an even better application than yours. When I received my acceptance letter, they told me that there was a cut off by the 23rd of March and if they didn't receive confirmation of attendance of NASS, they would give the remaining spots out to the other applicants. You should be getting a letter within the next 2 weeks. Best of luck to you.

I just received my acceptance letter to NASS ten minutes ago. It's dated March 24, 2011, so only four days ago. I'm going to Session 1.
My GPA is a 3.9, but the SAT scores I submitted weren't as great. (590 M, 530 Writing, 490 CR) I retook my SAT in March, so I'm just waiting on my new scores. I had JV dance under my belt, 2 years of Varsity Basketball, a year a Varsity Football (I'm a female on an all-men team.) I am a Staff Sergeant in the Young Marines Program, served as Junior and Senior Drill Instructor, Rifle and Flag Bearer in the Color Guard, had community service and great physical fitness scores. Hopefully you get in! I'm glad they were able to look past my SAT scores!

This will be a silly but curious question--are there more than 1 NASS appointee(s) per district?

There was nothing in the NASS App that asked specifically for GPA so I don't think I put my GPA. Is that a big deal? I mean I still had all my grades and class rank and stuff.

True. If there are 434 districts there are probably at least four per district. However, I know I should'nt be concerned with what I can't control but rather things I do before the actual app

More of less depending on what they are looking for. Three from my school went.

One more time this cycle, let me suggest that you go to www.navysports.com and check out the summer camps that are available. You will find a wide selection including some leadership camps. This will get you inside Bancroft Hall for a few days and in contact with some midshipmen and coaches to talk with.
