Body of TWE letter:
Dear xxx,
Thank you for applying to the Class of 2020. However, I am sorry to inform you we will not be able to admit you to the Air Force Academy or the Air Force Academy Preparatory School this year.
You can be assured your record received an in-depth review by a panel of experienced Air Force Academy faculty and staff. Unfortunately, every year we are unable to offer appointments to many excellent students who might make outstanding cadets and future Air Force officers. Please be advised that the Air Force Academy does not maintain a wait list.
If you wish to reapply next year, you can strengthen your application by enrolling in college or continuing your college course of study. If you have not already done so, we recommend taking Calculus I and II, college chemistry (with lab), college physics, two semesters of English, and a social science course. If you are currently enrolled in college or have taken these courses, more advanced courses in math, science, engineering, and the social sciences may also help increase your competitiveness. We recommend that you retake your standardized tests if you are below our published averages or are not satisfied with your current results. Also maintain and enhance your physical fitness and be sure to continue in activities that will develop your leadership skills. The application for those reapplying to the Air Force Academy opens on the 1st of July.
Please consider AFROTC (
www.afrotc.com) as another road to an Air Force commission. This will provide you with an opportunity to earn your college degree while also training for a career in the United States Air Force. AFROTC is available at a wide variety of colleges and universities across the United States.
xxx, we appreciate your interest in attending the Air Force Academy and wish you the very best in all your future endeavors.
