The Waiting Club

DS received Falcon Scholarship this morning - he also has an AFROTC scholarship. Any seasoned players out there with advice? We need to research the Falcon Scholarship opportunity more - anyone know the percentage of those who receive an appointment after completing the year of prep? We'll scour these threads for more information also. Hang in there to all those who are waiting!
DS also received a Falcon Foundation Scholarship offer this morning and has 1 week to decide. He also has a 4 year AFROTC scholarship to consider (and a USMA appointment which he has decided to decline). After mourning the loss of a direct entry appointment for a few hours, I think he will take the FF Scholarship as 99.8% get appointments upon successful completion of their prep year.

Still "candidate" status and very stressed! :(

You hang in there too JLI22 ! Got to hand it to you DD’s out there going for acceptance in a male dominated profession , I come from one myself ( firefighting ) but wouldn’t change a thing, love the support I got from my brothers in the industry and the male leaders early on that taught me I could do it ! I would be super excited if my daughter would pursue a military career , your parents no doubt will be super proud whatever the outcome for even putting yourself out there through this grueling process . Don’t stress it’s out of your control now , take a breath , enjoy your schooling and friends , and strategize your next move to get to your end goal if the academy doesn’t come through . Like I told my DS , resilience and drive is what will carry you to success .

A male dominated environment doesn’t scare me! I was the only girl on the wrestling team for a few years and the bonds I made with my team are unbreakable! I will continue to pursue a career in the military- whether that be through the academies or another route. When I received my rejection from the Naval Academy (Monday) I really started to realize how important it is to live in the moment and enjoy everything we have! Best of luck to your DS! Thank you for the advice

DS is PPQ, checked portal today and still shows candidate. Is not over until you hear one way or the other. He is staying positive! God is the only one who knows
what is the best for DS and everyone out there still waiting!
Congratulations to all with offer of appointments.
How did candidates heard of their appointment today? Did the portal updated to offer of appointment, from USAFA via email or members of congress via email or phone call?
God Bless!

So awesome , jeez wrestling is hard ! Your a tough gal and I’m happy to hear you have other routes in mind . If he Academy doesn’t take you it’s their loss in my mind;-)

"Be grateful certain things did or didn't work out. Sometimes you don't even know what you're being protected from or where you're being guided to when in the midst of chaos. That's why you just have to trust that greater things are aligning for you. Let go gracefully"
Something that I have been living by to help me get through this process! Just thought I'd share:)

Confidence in spades! You’re already a winner. You don’t need anyone telling you you’ll go far. You know it already, so we’ll just sit back and enjoy watching your ascent. Excellent attitude.

I heard via email at 1am on the 17th and it was updated in the portal when I checked. However .... strange side note the digital acceptance letter reads 4/10/19 as the date received although I’m positive it just showed up today. Must be a weird glitch in the system.
