I know I read it somewhere but can't find it. Can you submit a new CFA after submitting the application? What is the latest date they will accept it?

My son was able to submit a better CFA for USNA but not for USAFA and USMA. I wish we had known that before he rushed to submit one very early in the process (July or August). The first was barely passing but that is what is on file at USMA and USAFA and the second time moved up to "average." I don't know how late they will accept it - I would guess it would be application deadline.

I would suggest emailing your admissions counselor and asking. Our son did ask to make sure it could be retaken. She said yes (USNA) and removed the scores and resent the email to the proctor. But the scores were removed before he retook, so you do run the risk of having lower scores if you don't improve. Good luck to you!

DS received an email from USNA on 12/17 encouraging him to retake but submit no later than 1/31/2020. Your DS/DD needs to ask his/her admissions counselor to email a link to the person qualified to sumbit the scores.

USNA can retake and submit until 1/31. Keep in mind when you resubmit all other scores are erased. USMA you can retake once. USAFA I have no idea.
USMA did not accept a retake submission from my son since the first one was passing - but I heard it depends on how strict the RC is.

interesting! I wonder why they want multiple submissions when previous scores are erased (or is this another mystery best left alone??) 😳
IMPORTANT: PREVIOUS CFA SCORES ARE NOT, NOT, NOT ERASED. This is a falsehood spread by this forum. All CFA scores are saved in the CIS system at USNA Admissions for comparison to previous scores and the highest scores are used by Admissions. Please help spread the word so that candidates are no longer misinformed on this important topic.

USNA does not "remove" scores. They keep all scores and utilize the highest scores when all are submitted. Just because the previous scores no longer appear in the Candidate portal, please rest assured the previous scores are kept and referred to at Admissions.

USAFA and USMA are unfair in this area IMHO. USNA encourages candidates to always strive to push themselves to improve and succeed.

Thank you for the clarification. I like the idea of them being able to see them all. Shows willingness to improve and effort on behalf of the candidate. Counselor just indicated they would be wiped out. Again, thank you for all of the help and guidance.

If USNA is using the highest scores versus the latest, then this is a change from the past. What was always briefed and previously explained by admissions is that the latest scores are used...not the highest. Is there a BGO note on this?

Also, the highest test scores should not be confused as a mix by the highest scores from each element(s) of the test. The CFA is not superscored...at least it wasn’t in the past!

I would imagine all CFA scores are “saved” just like the SAT/ACT scores, though the highest SAT/ACT superscore is what is used in the WPM calculation.

Sorry DS scores were removed and his latest scores are on the ones being used according to his BGO/Area Coordinator. His previous scores are no longer valid. As @usnabg asked is there a BGO note on this? I check blackboard and found nothing also nothing has been communicated by USNA admissions. For clarification please help us understand when the change occurred? It could be that USNA does keep track of previously submitted scores as they do with ACT. But with ACT they superstore and to my knowledge they do not superstore CFA. I look forward to your help.
