Congressional Interviews

Quick question! I received a nomination from my District Representative and I didn’t have to interview. Does anyone know how common this is in NY?
It's going to be a district by district thing. I don't think anyone here has a bird's eye view of how each NY MOC handles this.

There are a couple reasons this might happen.
1. They decide to just select off the application for some reason
2. They have 10 or less applicants in their district so everyone gets on the slate.
I'm sure there are other scenarios as well.

Great! Thanks for the reply!

Just checking in to see how things are going? My DS completed all three of his interviews (much later than last year)... He received his NOM last year (in the mail) about this time - but I'm anticipating things to be a little delayed this year since interviews were pushed back. Continued thoughts and prayers for all the applicants and parents (we deserve more credit as I think this may be even more nerve-wracking for us).... <3
hello-I’m Very excited to say DS received a nomination from his congressman. OH District 15. Congressman actually made a personal phone call to him! It was right before Thanksgiving. Now the wait begins. His medical is still pending though. what about your DS, medical all set? Hope you hear about nom soon.

Do you get an email once a nomination is entered into the portal? or do you need to check the status periodically?

No email for either USAFA Nom (from PA-11) or USMMA Nom (don't know who it's from, DS also interviewed out of the district and with his Senators). I think it is odd there wasn't an email from the nominating source.

Elected officials can run the process any way they choose. Their only must-do is submitting the slate to the SA, IF they choose to exercise their ability to nominate.

They can do personal calls, letters, photo ops, or zip.

Letters should come in the mail.

We just received word today, DS received nomination from congressman (10). Medical is cleared, since he is a reapplicant. My understanding is DODMERB medical qualification good for 2 years. DS did not make the cut last year and went on a determined path to better himself for this year. He is waiting on evaluator interview and that is all. Application deadline is Jan. 15. It doesn't matter if it's your first time or second time - this wait doesn't get any easier. Good news is that if it doesn't work out again; he has an amazing plan in place and will do great no matter which path he goes down. :D

Agree mommafalcon2024. This process has been a valuable experience.
and congratulations on the nom!
Happy Holidays!

Congrats to the DD!

Principal nom/3Q and there is no need for the other interview as she is in @ USAFA, LOA or not. At least this way, your congressman/woman can give another applicant (or several applicants) a shot. In a state like California as far as population, military families and qualified applicants go, getting 2 noms would likely be very difficult since two Senators cover 40 million people in a state that graduates 400k+ HS students per year.

The word has been historically that many CA MOCs coordinate with the Senators to try and make sure more applicants can be considered that way. The experience of your DD is indicative of that as the staff for Senator (VP Elect) Harris confirmed that was the case over the phone - principal nom or otherwise.
Sorry if this is a dumb question. What does "3Q" stand for? I'm assuming qualified medically, academically, and passed candidate fitness assessment? Or is it something else?

Not a dumb question. Entering this world it's almost like learning a new language. And yes, that's what it stands for.

Does anyone know anything about Congressman Sherman's nom process in CA-30? Submitted my package over a month ago.. called his office and they confirmed they received my package. I'm wondering if there's an interview somewhere down the road or not. Staffer has not yet responded to my emails. Thanks
