Ohhhh the waiting........

I am right there with you still waiting with no LOA! Keep the FAITH! Fly NAVY! ⚓
Honestly, I think they are waiting to see if the people who got appointments in our areas will commit. A lot of my friends in my state got accepted to multiple SAs and many are turning down USNA. The enrollment deadline for USMA and USAFA is May 1st according to my friends, so I think USNA has us ‘waiters’ as the backups.

I need to just commit to the plan B school. Nothing like spending money you can't get back to make a decision come through! LOL

This definitely makes sense, but why wouldn't they just put us on the waitlist?

DS's appointment came in early June. Spent the $ for plan B. Look at it this way - that $500 (or whatever it is) is the last college tuition payment you will make if he/she gets an appointment and accepts. Best of luck.

With all due respect, because there already is a wait list. DOD SAs’ recent acceptance yield is 85%. It’s a high and stable number, at least in recent years. It implies that the wait list is small. As @NavyHoops, who’s been in and around this process far more than most, said in another post: Some years, a few are plucked from the wait list. Other years, the wait list goes untouched.

What do you think of us still waiting who are not waitlisted? Is this a normal thing not knowing at this point? Or do you think the delay until April 30 is pandemic related?

DS just got an email from his BGO saying he was one of a handful of people still in the running for appointment. Here’s hoping it’s a big enough hand for everyone still waiting on the forum
That’s awesome! Did the BGO just reach out or did your DS first email them?

Messaged the BGO right before the April 15th big day to see if he knew anything. He said he didn't see anything regarding an appointment but he didn't see anything about a rejection either! Suggested giving it a "few more days"...... and a few more..... and a few more.......
