I was just sitting down to send you an IM full of well wishes and happy mornings. So glad to hear this. Send me IM and I’ll get you added.Ok.... I can FINALLY ANNOUNCE that our Falcon is IN!!! I have had to sit on that news for 2 days now but the MOC's offices wanted help in coordinating a time to reach our DS to share the great news of his appointment. The Senator's office scheduled a zoom call for tomorrow at 10:00 am and would like the family present with our DS. Our Representative called today to congratulate our DS at 2:30pm MST after spending all day in session at the Capitol. What an honor for my DS to receive his personal call. We are so very thankful for the Falcon Foundation Scholarship, the academy admission staff, the staff at NWP (especially the Durbeck's) and our son's fellow prepsters who supported each other through it all. What an amazing experience for our Falcon. He is still in AWE over the news!
Now a quick question. How do I add his nominations to the USAFA Appointment list? Do you list the nominations he received or only the one that Admissions used for the appointment? I noticed that some listed multiple noms. So if my DS had 3 do I list all 3? Should I just wait until morning to add him to the list after the actual appointment is expected to show up in his portal? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Congratulations! I know your DS was always very helpful to everyone at NWP. About what nomination to use on the list, I personally put all the nominations I was given, but it’s up to you.Ok.... Embarrassed to admit that I don't know how to do an IM on here. I was trying to add Presidential, Senatorial, and Congressional but also wasn't sure how to add my DS to the most updated list.I was just sitting down to send you an IM full of well wishes and happy mornings. Before Covid, Durbecks used to host a pre Iday meetup every year. Hopefully they will do the same for you all. They hosted a lovely gathering at USMA before Rday (same as your Iday) for the class of 2022 (NWP class of 2017).Bumping this thread and seeking to gauge interest from our SAF NWP 2020 community on a pre I-day meetup for NWP's Falcons in Colorado Springs. Recognizing this is a public forum, let's do this via private conversation function on SAF.
I've shared this basic idea with another NWP parent here on SAF and the current train of thought would be a late afternoon/early evening gathering on Tuesday, June 22nd, so as to not intrude on "last night with the family" time on Wed, the 23rd. Depending on level of interest and number of people, we could reserve space in an outdoor venue and do a basic burgers/hot dogs and cold sides meal.
If you're interested, PM me directly, I'll reply to all via PM. In your PM, please let me know if you're okay with a group private conversation or prefer an individual PM, also let me know how many people you would be and any additional feedback, ideas, cost sharing, etc.
** EDIT: This is NOT intended to be only for NWP Falcons, but would expect them to be primary audience since I'm only posting it in here. Thinking this should be open to the SAF/Falcon community for CO2025, primary focus on new cadets and FFS families heading off to I-day. Feel free to share your thoughts on this. **
Any updates? Thanks @DDmom. I've been in touch with Mrs. Durbeck privately and they usually do a meetup on the Wednesday night before I-day morning. As of a few days ago, it was still unknown based on USAFA guidance if that will happen this year. This year's NWP class was all online, so these cadets haven't met in person before. We're making these plans for the Tuesday night to keep the traditional NWP night available. We're purposely keeping details for this out of the public realm, and using PM and email only to communicate.
This is going to be a private event for NWP USAFA cadets and families on Tuesday, June 22nd. Details for the get-together have been sent via class group email thread. As of this evening, 28 NWP USAFA cadets have RSVP'd to attend. Please check with your NWP cadet or send me a PM if you need details or to RSVP.Any updates?
The email with the info was sent to all names on the list. It was also posted in the NWP class group chat. This is going to be a private event for NWP USAFA cadets and families on Tuesday, June 22nd. What an incredible time yesterday evening meeting all of these young leaders who are ready to start BCT. The cadets, parents and siblings made it feel like a family reunion. Looking forward to great things from you young leaders as you embark on the next step of your journey tomorrow. Keep your positive attitude and stay focused on the goal. There isn't anything they can throw at you that you can't conquer.Just wanted to bring this back to the top one more time. Tomorrow is the big day (for the Air Force people at least). It’s been a great run, I met some of my best friends through this thread, and NWP. It’s hard to describe in words how much NWP has done for me, and all the other appointees as well. We are so grateful for the Durbecks, other instructors, and the family and friends that helped us through this journey. Good luck to all (and to all a goodnight)
