Guess this place ! (Post your photos)

That is correct. Kadena Air Force Base, Okinawa. This was one of the last two bases to have operational SR-71 Blackbirds. I was not to far away at MCAS Futenma at the time. There was a fair amount of ice cold Japanese beer involved. Now, did you look that up or what? When I helped paint that Batman logo, that building was NOT a parking garage. How they turned a regular building into a parking garage - I will never know - but it's a parking garage, now.

Never seen it in person, but my college roommate is a big DC/Marvel fan and he flys out of Kadena. He sent me a picture of it a while back so that's how I knew.

Location (city/area), I took my wife out drinks at this institution?

Could be Minot? Desolate enough. Just need a BUFF in the background. Used to sometimes see Blackbirds & U-2s on the scopes out of Kadena over SEA and straying a little bit north of there and then to U- Tapao refuel and home.

Wait a minute - Betty’s something or other, lots of Army stuff in there, a bit divey, when I worked for USAA and would go back to the hq in San Antonio, the Army vets in the crowd would take us out of towners there after a long day of meetings. Is it actually called Betty’s Battalion???

I had no idea what all the stuff on the walls was, as a good Navy person should appropriately be ignorant of all that.

If I am right, I realize I am adding weight to the stereotypes of sailors and bars. Sailors are only required to know the general look of the bar and how to get back to the ship, never mind area of town, which can occasionally be optional too if it’s unpronounceable. 🍻🥴

Did we ever get a confirmed answer to Nino’s photo so we could proceed to the next by whoever id’d the runway shot? Or are we in free for all mode now?

Capt MJ, You are correct Betty's Battalion right outside the Base Gate at Ft Sam Houston, San Antonio. That was Son #2's 2nd posting after Camp Zama Japan. He took His Mother, myself and his youngest Brother (Son #3) there for drinks after dinner one night while we were visiting.

Ahh, good to know where it is. If I am riding in someone else’s car, I am oblivious to where I am.

I will wait until we know about Nino’s pic and @THParent clears me in hot.

Still no correct answer to my post. Hint: location is about as desirable as Minot.
Just for fun, I’ll list some wild-a$$ed guesses but only for remote godforsaken armpit airports that I have been to. I suspect our target pic is landlocked, whereas all my guesses are surrounded by water: I bet some of our other posters have enjoyed these delights.

Johnson Island Atoll (pretty much closed down now, airport-wise)
Midway Island
Diego Garcia

No, ma'am. It is not any of these. You are correct on landlocked.

Where did this re-enlistment take place?
Okay. Those jets over on the left don't look like they've ever landed on a carrier, there aren't any helicopters around, and that is a really nice concrete runway that is probably 10,000 feet long if it's an inch, so it's an Air Force base.

Creech has a runway 13/31, but you can also see mountains from there. I was thinking that it was Tinker (been there) but those aren't Boeing tails, so I am at a loss. I do like how somebody put their tandem gear right on the numeral 1. That's hard to do, even if you're trying. Cool photo.

Still, I thought I would post my thought process. :)

Not Creech or Tinker, but there are MQ-9's at this base. I'll do one more hint and if no one can answer, I'll spill the beans.

This base used to belong to ACC, and in 2005 the SecDef recommended putting it on the BRAC list. In 2006, it was transferred to a different Command.

Okay. I think that's easy then. Ellsworth AFB in South Dakota. Those are B-1Bs aren't they?

Dang. Now I feel terrible. I love Herky Birds.
No idea, whatsoever.
