Hi! What are your thoughts on this text I just received from the Nation Guard recruiter:
Okay so long story short. The Oklahoma Army National Guard has been granted a new enlistment option ! This is no gimmick, it literally will only be available for 30 days. Your son will not go to Basic Training until he graduates his senior year.
If he gets accepted into west point we would release his contract so he could attend.
He would have time in service as well as health insurance, and will get paid Monthly during this period.
*** For the record, I really do not want him to go this route. It is his decision however. If he does not receive an appointment from West Point or USNA, his plan B is ROTC at a civilian college or one of the senior military colleges. Thank you for educating me!
