Turned Down

Is there a way to private message you? Momof3greatkids.
You need at least 5 posts (legitimate ones, not nonsensical "filler" posts) plus at least a few days for the system to cycle and then you will be able to send a private message.

Just saw the TWE in my portal. C'est la vie.
From previous posts, I believe you are in NROTC (hope I got that right but this applies nonetheless). There are many ways to a commission. You seem very determined. I was winged in "86 when very few women held such positions. One of the first to make a long cruise on the West Coast and the only woman in a two helicopter detachment in HC 6 on a six month deployment to the Med. During AOCS and flight school, there were high attrition rates (male and female). What separated those who made it? Grit and Determination- just keep pursing your goals. I tell my son the same thing.

Any thoughts on the Citadel as a plan B?
My son was awarded 3 year ARTOC at Citadel and they not only offered to pay the 4th year, but they have a scholarship that pays R&B. I don't think he'll end up there TAMU is his backup to USNA, but it seems like a good option from the outside.

That's very kind of you and it made me smile. You raise excellent points.

On an interesting note, I received an email from USNA admissions explaining my application was closed because it was incomplete. I haven't submitted my CFA yet, but I received an extension from my admissions counselor to submit it later while I wait on an ROTC injury to heal. I have been in touch with him for clarification.

Got the USNA Turn-Down today, but not surprised, no nomination and your history and my grades and test scores are too high for NAPS or Foundation consideration.

I'm happy to report that my DS was just accepted by USMA! His first choice and he has already accepted the appointment. Thank you all for such wonderful support. i will be asking more questions, I'm sure! God Bless you all and my wish is that you all receive the news you want to hear!

I'm on my third application attempt, after 2 TWE's I saw them less as a bad thing and more as a chance to grow. After both TWE's I was able to set up a phone meeting with my regional counselor and he did pull my file and give me specific feedback. Looking back though I'm thankful for the TWE's, I've grown and matured a lot compared to how I was on my first try. It's all about perspective!
i feel the same way everytime i lose the lottery 😈

Why would you say that you could not be considered for prep ?

There are all kinds at NAPS and there is no SAT or gpa that would be so high as to prohibit an offer for NAPS . At NAPS one does not need a nomination.

We live in West Hills, CA. San Fernando Valley ... Southern Cali
My son went to Viewpoint (Calabasas) although we live in Studio City , Relatively close to West Hills. Not sure if its breaking a rule, but what HS did your son go to

I just saw in my DS portal that his application has been Turned Down. I am super disappointed as I'm sure he will be when I he see's it. My question is, will the TWE give him a reason why?
All of this crap has to do with the nominations usually. On your son's list of applicants there was probably someone better or a principal nominee. Out of curiosity did you son get a nom form a senator?

Sorry to hear

Is there a difference between a senator nom and a congressman?

Nope. Any qualified nomination can get you an appointment. It just depends which nomination that appointment will be "charged" against.

Nope. Just his congressman. He gave him 1 for each of the Big SA's.

Usually senators nominate more people. Im on a list as 5 whereas my friend who got a senator nomination is on a list of 10. It can be more competitive, and as I understand it, the USNA must take at least one student form each MoC. Your son is competing against the others on the list for an appointment. If they want to take more form the same list they can. For what it's worth, I've overheard this stuff as an intern for my congresswoman.
