Good Evening,
Does anyone know how soon notification will go out for the NROTC board that occurred last week? My daughter is trying to see if she will have a decision back before the schools’ May 1 deadline.

I'm not 100% sure but I think the results have already come out. If I am correct about this, it is possible that your daughter is an alternate. If this is the case, alternates getting scholarships are just rolling out in little drips over time. Once again, not 100% sure if the results have already come out, its just I have seen others posting about receiving scholarships as of recent.

After looking into it, the last board that should have happened was from 21st-25th. The next board is from April 11th-15th, which I believe is only for MSISR and BOOST. Are you maybe confusing this 4-8 board you are speaking of with the 11-15 one?

Thank you for responding. I saw board dates of 4/8 and 4/18 listed on rotcconsulting website. Photo attached. When she logs in it says no decision has been made.

My son is still waiting also. No change in portal or further info for him. Holding onto hope until we hear otherwise! Definitely going to be down to the wire with Plan A, B or C with the May 1 college deadlines.

That is very interesting. I checked my email from a while ago and was sent these dates:

Thank you. Since you got an email and mine was a web search, your information is probably more accurate. Can you please tell me what is MSISR and BOOST?

MSISR is the minority serving institution program. I believe that you are reviewed for this if you checked a box about it on the application. I believe that if you are selected for this scholarship, the scholarship can only be used at a designated minority serving institution. I have attached a list of the colleges for this below. However if you didn't check the box saying you were interested in this, you won't be considered for it. I am not 100% sure on this, but I believe that BOOST is an enlisted to officer program so your DD would have to be enlisted personnel to get this scholarship, but once again, I am not 100% sure on BOOST, as I cannot find much about it aside from what is spoken about here. If your DD does not meet the conditions for either one of these, I would assume she is an alternate. As an alternate myself, I have been told that when people turn down scholarships, (mainly because they are going to the academies) they give those scholarships to those on the alternate list. Apparently there is a ranking for this list, but it is not public. I would just say waiting is the thing to do. Your DD ain't out until she receives a rejection notification. Good luck, and I hope this helped!1649614793057.png

Thank you for the detailed reply! Good to know we should expect a notification either way. We will just wait it out.

Does anybody know if any of those “little drips” concerning Alternates getting selected and notified that they were selected might happen this week?

Not trying to dampen anyone's spirits, but the most recent board results essentially wrapped up what I would call the "regular" scholarship season. The remaining boards will focus on MSISR and BOOST.

The initial round of Alternate updates was sent out last week. There will be a few others coming out as people de-select or decline, but those numbers will be smaller.

I have heard that formal letters will be sent in the mail for those non-selected. This means folks should be looking at fallback plans or deciding if they want to sign up as a College Programmer without a scholarship and try for the sideload option.

So, it isn't completely over, but I just felt it's worth managing expectations so people aren't constantly refreshing their computers.

Thanks for the insight. Indeed managing expectations is important.

My DS's status on Netfocus updated today to let us know he was not selected for the NROTC scholarship. He has been accepted to his #1 choice (VTCC) and plans to go as a college programmer. I do not understand the "sideload" options and am hoping someone could please explain it? Thank you so much!

The sideload option is an opportunity within NROTC to apply for a scholarship. The application is reviewed by a national board and you are only competing against other NROTC MIDN. One can apply 2nd semester of freshman year and each semester of sophomore year.

If you are not awarded a scholarship you must apply for, and receive, advanced standing. Advanced standing allows you to continue in the program past your sophomore year while receiving the monthly stipend, but no tuition benefits.

DS status still shows no decision. However, he was accepted into #1 choice school (Tx A&M engineering) and will proceed as college programmer. Maybe a scholarship drip will fall to DS or others in similar situation. Congrats to all who received awards!

My so will most likely be at tamu this fall (although he is still "pending" for USNA).
