Questions, Chatter, Congrats for the 2026 USAFA Appointment Thread

Anyone from Missouri? I am really having trouble concentrating lately and am just plain weary from thinking about this! Still nothing on the portal for my DS as well.

My DS is waiting to hear also. He looked. No change he went back to his school work, not even a blink ….. he says it is what it is until it is not

My DS is not very upset either.. it's all me! He has his college paid for with Plan B and I know your DS has a slot at USMA. So, they have good options. But, I'm not dealing well with adversity. Maybe I need a life coach, lol. Or maybe I just need to get a life! I am kind of just joking on that.. but I really am ready for him to have a solid answer so I can move on and do something constructive with myself and my excess energy.

USNA. He has several colleges too and NROTC but he said SA USNA OR USAFA above any Rotc or university

Yes the system is diff. For him he was done w paper work back in Oct for nom, nov for SA app… USNA Was super fast same w NROTC, which it was suprising. No AFROTC and nothing from USAFA yet. We also have to deal w another kid in college, paper work, payments and similar dates. We look just to see if he needs to do anything as the call for USNA came after portal was already updated for fee days and LOA was there for 2 months while waiting on DODMERB

A learning curve for sure. I guess i will help next candidates out our hs bc DS felt so alone doing all this.
We have no immediate family serving so at time he was like a fish out of water chasing info etc. He is glad all paper work for a bit is over till the big sf86 etc shows up lol and his will be fun

I was looking at the SF 86 for my DS. It is not too terribly bad. About halfway through, it gets to never been out of the country…skip 3 pages. Never hosted an exchange student…skip 3 pages…

large extended family overseas on both sides of the family, foreign travel, etc
Did you get the package w the SF86 or just downloaded it?

OK, for my DS situation SF 86 is not that bad. Some people may find this a nightmare depending on their situation. The last time I filled it out, I had fun since I worked for a Dutch company. I instantly had many extra pages to fill out.
