USNA Class of 2027 Waiting and Speculating

Not that it's a huge deal, but I'm just curious. Is there any way I could check the date of when I received my appointment to USNA? I only found out through receiving the certificate via postal mail (which is obviously going to be after my kit was decided), and there's no decision letter in my portal.
Are you saying there is no notice, or way to accept your appointment, in your portal? Imo, i would want this tied up. Just for piece of mind. maybe follow up in a week or so if it doesnā€™t populate in your portal. Perhaps it hasn't loaded yet. No clue. But itā€™s not common to receive word of your appointment via snail mail, before online notification. Usually apointeess are waiting and waiting for that letter. Unless im missing something. Usually there is an email that there is an update in your portal (or similar wording) and its all there.

CONGRATS on your appointment!!

Just to be clear, there is no place on your portal showing an offer of appointment and a place for you to take action to accept or decline? How will they know of your decision? An acceptance will trigger next steps, action items, etc.

Call Admissions this week to let them know what you have received via mail and that you are seeing nothing in your portal, if that is the case. Itā€™s unusual for the paper to beat the electrons.

There is no rush to accept or decline, just make your decision by the deadline, but you want to be sure ā€œthe systemā€ shows your status accurately.

I received a full AFROTC scholarship to my Plan B 4-year university. I still have not heard from USNA about acceptance, but in the event I need to reapply next year, is AFROTC still looked upon as helpful for a reapplicant to USNA? Do they look more favorably on NROTC? I have my heart set on the academy and really hope I make it this time around, but I'm willing to go through the process again if I have to. Thanks!

Highly doubtful that USNA would look down on your participation in AFROTC, as long as you can explain why you chose AFROTC over NROTC if NROTC is available at the school. Because theyā€™d want to see consistency in your commitment to the Navy/Marine Corps.

Now, if USNA isnā€™t available at your school, no issues. If it is, but you can explain that the AFROTC scholarship is critical to you attending college for financial reasons, thatā€™s probably very understandable. Of course, with anything that has this many variables, YMMV.

Sorry if I worded that confusingly. I know I have an appointment (because I found out via the certificate), I just wanted to know when they gave me an appointment for my own records. And to @Capt MJ, there is a place in my portal that does let me accept or decline, I just haven't yet because I also have an appointment to USAFA and want time to decide.
On the USAFA side, there was a decision letter that had a date. I don't want to call admissions because it's really not a big deal at all. I'm just curious if others can see when their appointment was offered.

Maybe check your email? It may come from a different address. Or could be in your spam. But Iā€™m pretty sure there was an email to check portals in both of my kiddos cases.

Additionally, you BGO may have an update in his/her BGIS, dated. You could ask your BGO.

IF it REALLY matters that much. Not sure why the actual date would matter. It doesnā€™t for any purpose as far as reporting, etc.

Found it! Yay thank you!!! I know it doesn't matter, but I kept all of the papers and documents from everyone. I think it's nice to know.

Ah - thank you for clarifying.

Date of your appointment? Itā€™s really rather a ā€œflow.ā€ Do you want the date your application went through final checks and was placed on a list of appointment decisions? The date it was blessed as a ā€œgoā€ by the person who has that authority? The date the letter was generated and mailed? The date your portal was updated with a decision option?

If there is a date on your certificate, use that. If you know the date your portal updated with a decision, use that.

And congratulations on your appointments.

Not sure if this is the right thread to post this question but which portal will a decision appear in? There are three portals that Iā€™ve seen.

1: https://usnacandidate.force.com/cis/s/login/
2: https://usnacandidate.force.com/MIDS/login
3. https://login.usna.edu/oam/server/o...tid=USNA_OHS12c_WebGateAgent ver=1 crmethod=2

Portal #1 is where my application was submitted to. There doesnā€™t seem to be a tab where a decision would appear in. Attempting to log into portals #2 and #3 gives an error message saying ā€œincorrect loginā€.

I just need some confusion cleared up

Thanks

The first one. It's where you turned in your application. It will show up in a new box labeled "Appointment Offer" under the "Admissions Applications" tab which you can probably see now.

I believe your application status will be updated on the home tab of #1. It might say, "Complete - Pending Review" until further action is taken from admissions.

I had a dream last night that I had checked the mail and a thick letter from USNA came for my son. Went to find him and my 3 boys were whipping each other with towels in my bathroom (if you've ever been a swimmer, you know) and I told him he didn't deserve to know what was in that envelope until they knocked it off and cleaned up the bathroom. šŸ˜‚

I woke up and ran to check his portal to see if that dream was prophetic or just crazy. Turns out I am just an anxious swim mom with 3 teenage boys and not a fortune teller. CPR. Still.

Ah okay, thank you. Are the other portals significant in any way?

The Midshipman Information Data System (MIDS) will become well-known to you once you become a mid. Thatā€™s why you canā€™t log in yet. You do not have a CAC card (military ID) or your mid number, a unique number starting with your class year and 4 random digits: m271234

still written with sharpie on every junkie towel in our garage, some of his really old t-shirts and quite a few from various company mates šŸ˜†

Ohhh that makes a lot more sense. Thanks!

@Capt MJ may be able to answer this best. And the answer might be "just wait" but if there's some insight on the whole admissions process I'd appreciate it.

DS has an appointment to USMA (he had an LOA). He was DQ'd by DoDMERB but received a waiver from USMA. His application for USNA was complete when his MOC nom came in during mid-December and according to his Admission's Officer his file was shortly sent over to the committee for review. Since then there's been no new information. His AO tells him he's still "in the running" but when he reaches out to the USNA medical contact he's told there won't be a waiver request unless he's got an LOA or offer of appointment - so it still hasn't started. So are they just waiting to tell him "no" or is he gradually surviving cuts? My concern is that once the waiver request is made - if it's made - there won't be time to process it before his USMA decision deadline. Any thoughts on this situation?

The medical team at USNA can prioritize things. If it is something they can waive, they can review all the files and knock it out.

Just my own example, take it for what it's worth: My kid had a big hiccup after he received his NROTC scholarship offer and they reviewed his DoDMERB file. Keep in mind, he was already cleared with a waiver by USNA from the last cycle that they carried forward to the next one (since nothing had changed). In review of his file for NROTC, they saw that he complained of being dizzy in a pediatrician's visit.

BOOM. DQed again for both NROTC and USNA. And we're talking the beginning of April, two weeks before the last big decision push by the Academy. I rushed to get him in to see my cardiologist's office with the requests for specific tests from the Academy, got everything done within two weeks, and submitted it back to the Academy and the NROTC unit. He got waitlisted on 4/15, and got his appointment a few weeks later. I'm almost willing to bet that he was waitlisted because his medical wasn't fully cleared again, and when it was, he was quick off the list.

They can turn the stuff around when necessary very quickly if they want. Just depends who is the priority within the pile on the desk.

New to this forum, just trying to contribute because we appreciated it while our DS was/is applying. Just recently our college freshman received a ā€œUSNA Conditional Offer (LOA)ā€ on CIS pending a Body Composition Form about 12 days ago. He was a primary nom from our senator. He is a DIII football player and rower and it was a formality because heā€™s built like a linebacker (12%). He turned that in and they updated his CIS with CPR which seems like a downgrade but understand itā€™s likely just that they need to confirm the form at a board meeting. As many have said before, this system is designed for USNA admissions but is not exactly a warm and fuzzy factory for the users. I only share because it might help another in our scenario. We are not expecting any problems, but still are looking forward to a BFE soon and will keep on top of it in case there is a problem. Good luck to all, it took an extra year for our DS and we are grateful that it seems to be working out this time.
