First, I am sorry, I am sure the rejection stings; but your GT acceptance proves you are definitely deserving, just too many applicants/not enough seats. As far as next year goes, the process will be much different. You will be away at college. You will be able to better control how much information and how involved your parents are in the process. As an adult you need to decide for yourself the best path forward. And I very rarely ever think this way, but it sounds like maybe a little less information (up to and including not even letting them know you are moving ahead with a reapplication) could be in your best interest next cycle. Also, as a little grace to your parents. They probably aren't really mad at you, just frustrated and disappointed with the whole process. Best wishes on wherever your journey leads!Welp, just got my denial email. My parents are like…mad at me now, for all the “mistakes” I made during the application process. I got into Georgia Tech so I’m satisfied with that, and I’m thinking about reapplying next year, but I really do not want to deal with my parents stressing me out through the whole, long process.
It was cool to go to Summer Seminar and experience midshipman life, I really really enjoyed it. I’m sure I’ll be fine with whatever I do in life, though. Good luck to everyone else with college, and congrats to everyone who got into USNA!
