USNA Class of 2027 Waiting and Speculating

Welp, just got my denial email. My parents are like…mad at me now, for all the “mistakes” I made during the application process. I got into Georgia Tech so I’m satisfied with that, and I’m thinking about reapplying next year, but I really do not want to deal with my parents stressing me out through the whole, long process.
It was cool to go to Summer Seminar and experience midshipman life, I really really enjoyed it. I’m sure I’ll be fine with whatever I do in life, though. Good luck to everyone else with college, and congrats to everyone who got into USNA!
First, I am sorry, I am sure the rejection stings; but your GT acceptance proves you are definitely deserving, just too many applicants/not enough seats. As far as next year goes, the process will be much different. You will be away at college. You will be able to better control how much information and how involved your parents are in the process. As an adult you need to decide for yourself the best path forward. And I very rarely ever think this way, but it sounds like maybe a little less information (up to and including not even letting them know you are moving ahead with a reapplication) could be in your best interest next cycle. Also, as a little grace to your parents. They probably aren't really mad at you, just frustrated and disappointed with the whole process. Best wishes on wherever your journey leads!

Allow everyone time to grieve. It hits you in the gut. I’m sure your parents are also second guessing themselves.

Have they READ the amazing resumes here? Unfortunately, there simply is t enough room for all the stellar people willing to step up and apply.

Use the Coaches rule: don’t talk about it for 24hrs, minimum. I suspect cooler heads will prevail.

And you apply next year if YOU want to. And don’t tell your parents. Surprise them with the appointment. And watch their shocked faces. Now that would be fun 🤩

You'll be fine and I hope, over time, your parents will be too. There is a person that spent a year at Georgia Tech before going to the Naval Academy. He did alright over his lifetime. You may of heard of him - President Jimmy Carter. Whatever you do, live your life. Only the best to you...

I was tracking two more of my BGO interviewees who were CPR as of yesterday afternoon and this morning
just saw that both were Turned Down, one a recruited athlete which he never told me but I saw on my BGO portal.

Do BGO’s know of appointments before or after candidates? I feel like I see conflicting answers for this.

DS rushed off to school for a JROTC meeting, and I didn’t want any news to be brewing in him throughout his school day, so we’ll check the portal this afternoon 😬🫣 (Honestly, he seems to be much less anxious about this than I am 😅)

This is my understanding. Please correct me if I am wrong. CPR means:
Their file just hasn't had a final review. Not that it has never been looked at, correct?

DS is still sitting at CPR here in Southern California! Have plan B at Arizona State University fully in place but still holding out hope. DS would be happy with NAPS as he is still only 17 and won’t turn 18 until after plebe summer.
Positive thoughts for all of us still in the waiting game.
DS still CPR from CA-25! Plan B~NROTC- Marine option VMI. I guess no news is good news. What district in SoCal?? & yes, DS would be ecstatic is offered NAPS too.

Things sure have gotten quiet in here compared to yesterday’s frenzy of activity. It’s actually kind of an eerie feeling.
Right! My DD said someone in her Summer Seminar squad shared in a group text that their TWE came today around noon Eastern time. Every time I get a text alert I think it is from my DD with news😂 The stress involved in waiting increases daily and I have a kid who does NOT like to discuss feelings. We have been told not to inquire and that she will share when she has information!

This has varied back and forth over the years. sometimes we get notified at the same time as the MOC and
it is bad form for a BGO to call to congratulate and then have the MOC do a notification call.
I can tell you that when a candidate is accepted, the BGO does not get an email to check the portal. The only way
that we know is of we happen to log in and most do not do so on a constant or even daily basis.

At times it can mean that they have not been reviewed - but at this stage of the game, I
don't think that many have not already been reviewed by the board.

As of last night my son was still CPR. I just read the pages in this thread since yesterday and I'm so anxious I could puke or drink. I could check the portal but this is my son's news and not mine, so I have to wait. Impatiently (he gets home in 14 minutes but who's counting). Best of luck to all of you and thank you for the great information.

Can MJ give any insight into timing for those applicants who have received LOAs and are merely waiting for waiver review?
Sometime between now and a few days before I-Day. I know that doesn’t help, but each and every file now requires final resolution.
