So “the glamor has worn off?” Welcome to life, my friend. The glamor of most things wears off. A school. A job. A house. Even a GF.
In most cases, you ultimately reach a higher level of satisfaction. That’s why people stay in jobs, in communities and in relationships.
My mother said: dating is about romantic dinners in fancy restaurants. Marriage is about dirty socks. Yet we also build an intimacy in a successful marriage that doesn’t need a romantic dinner to sustain it.
Watching a parade is fun. Marching in one, not so much. Yet there’s a certain pride that most of us feel during a parade, even as we dislike the actual doing.
WRT USNA, you’ll either find that higher sense of purpose and satisfaction, or you won’t. I can guarantee it won’t happen in 6 weeks of PS.
As others have said, give it a year. See where you are and where your GF is at that time. She’s worth waiting for — as are you.
