Plebe summer 2027

I'm sure they are well aware of it. ;)

My kid says the '27 Plebes have significantly less shenanigans to deal with in the acad. year. No Saturday workouts before 8, only a certain amount of PT per week, ProKnow is very different. He was talking to one of his original 2/C detailers who is a 1/C detailer this year, and they can't even rush kids out of the head. They had to wait for them to finish up on their own time, which often lead them to be late for the next evolution!

I said, "Yeah, your Plebe summer and Plebe year were the last real ones." :p

To pile on, it’s warm and welcoming exchanges of greetings of about 3000 upperclass returning to Bancroft, curious about the latest crop of plebes. It’s often called Hell-o Night. It is much watered down as the years have passed.

Weekend liberty, yes. Can go out to 150 miles. (So, could come home to see you guys!).

Kid kept shooting for that with the PRT (almost exclusively to get the weekends). Hasn't gotten them yet. :p

Forgot to mention, daughter maxed out on PRT last Thursday. That earns her two extra weekend time offs (liberties?). She did a 8:57 mile and half. We like to run! Woo hoo!
Is your plebe on the XC team? Mine is trying out - plebe summer turned around for her once she went to XC. She just missed on push ups but maxed out the plank and the run. She was the plebe that had the nice close up photo on the Naval Academy Instagram after the baseball game. She was dropped hard the next day for becoming an Instagram star! 🤣

She told me the men's max, but I don't recall. It sounded insane at the time.

That's hilarious. I almost think the baseball game is a torture test. ;)
She is not x-country. She plays in the Spring.

Yup, 8:15.

Surprisingly, even though my kid was the distance running stud in high school, I still hold our household title for the 1.5 at the Academy. 8:27. ;)

He didn't get to run half his Junior, and any of his Senior year due to COVID. He's been on a decline in ability ever since. Ran in the 8:4X range in the Fall last year. Slower in the Spring.

Love that. Maintain that father position of dominance as long as possible. :)

Hehehehe. I still hold the records for longer distance stuff, as he hasn't gotten out that far racing yet (half marathon, marathon). I was actually faster in my mid-30's than I was in high school or at NAPS.

But the dude has the mile and 5k PRs that I could only have dreamed of at his age.

Lol I asked my son what his 1.5 time is. He said he is training right now to get it to 8:30. He ran 5:30 mile in high school. I politely informed him he needs it to be 8:26 to hold our families’ record.

He also needs to work on his swimming … he is going to apply to the UCT for dive school.

Kid was at 4:40 in the winter track season of his Jr. year for the 1600. 4:48 mile in his Sophomore for spring track. 16:30 for 3-mile X-Country times. He was well on the way to D1 qualifying times if he got to keep on running and competing. Those days are past. Oh well. C'est la vie.

Although, if I had to guess, those things probably influenced his early LOA in the first application cycle he did. He wasn't recruited, but we still have a hard time figuring out why/how he got the LOA, especially with the mediocre SAT scores.

Those are some stellar times. The ripple effects of the response to the pandemic are going to be felt for many years. I just feel for the kids the most.

2027 Room question. Are the plebes allowed:

1. Mattress pad/toppers - memory foam, etc.
2. Small room air purifiers?
