  • My kid, who is now a firstie, hoped to walk on for football. we sent over a hundred emails to the coaches, received one email back. I talked to the athletic director and he told me "every year we have try outs for football. of all the kids who try out, about 15 or 20 make the team. your son will have the opportunity to attend 7 or more football practices during beast." none of it was true.

and, to put USMA in the best light, maybe they tell cadets uh, things that are not true, to get the cadt to come. right now we are trying to contact football coaches for our other son who has been appointed to class 2025. my best advice is to call the athletic office between 1 ND 2 PM EASTERN time and ask to talk to a track coach. If they say no one is available,

then have a coach picked out ahead of time that you have already sent an email which would include all your contact info and links to highlights, tell the secretary what time and to whom you send the email and a sk her to relay that to the coach. It is my impression that there has been some kind of training to all coaches that they are to be very cordial to all prospective cadets in particular to cadets

who have been appointed, so that the cadet does not decide against attending. the make or break question would be 'am i going to be invited to attend wst point the week before R day' with all the other athletes, i forget the exact wording on that. I am pretty sure that all sports gather the athletes that week. If they say yes, follow up with 'ok what do i do where do i sign what info do i need' lots of luck man
