Apply to the school, not ROTC. ROTC only occupies a tiny fraction of my son's time in his first semester at school. I assume your kiddo chooses AFROTC because he/she likes aerospace technology, so choose a school which is strong in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Aerospace...

Highly selective schools won't give a preference to ROTC scholarship winners, they have enough applicants to fill every category. Just curious, why Yale if you want to major in CS?

AFROTC was very smooth. The scholarship showed up on my son's school account one day before class started.

No need to exaggerate. My son was on track to become an eagle scout when he did his application (under board review). He wrote down Eagle Scout candidate. It worked out fine. I would plan a one month workout to improve fitness score and prepare interview. If you plan to do tech major, try AFROTC...

School choice has no bearing on scholarship. Scholarship plays no role in top tier school admission decision process either.
