This is great information. My DD is in Primary and I just don't get this kind of news. As a parent we're on a need to know basis. Congratulations on your wings!
I just wanted to reach out Class of 2023 appointees and their families. There are several parent groups throughout the country that hold "Welcome Aboard" events for incoming plebes. They are supported through the USNA and offer great information about I-Day, Parents Weekend, and much more...
Loews is no longer Loews, it's now called Hotel Annapolis. It is less expensive than the Loews. It is about a 20 minute walk to Gate 3, which is closer to Alumni Hall (reporting location). We walked to the check-in and then got our DoD ID's so we could access the Yard by vehicle. We had to...
Have to agree with USNAismyplace. Have found that in the past that your candidate portal gets updated first (around Jan. 29-30) and then you get notified. In my Mid's situation she knew because her portal was updated first on Jan. 30. A call came a few days later from one senator and an email...
Believe it or not...we've had several Mids reach out to us and want to attend (in whites) - it's great and the appointees feel much better after speaking with the Mids.
The Parents Club of Central New England hosts a Welcome Aboard reception for new appointees to the Class of 2022. The PCCNE includes Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Rhode Island. This is a fantastic event for the incoming class to meet current Midshipmen and to listen to stories and...
You can keep your scholarship. My daughter is a Plebe and she returned a scholarship only to find out later (when all the paperwork arrived) that you can use that to offset costs associated with the Academy. If necessary, the Academy allows you to deposit the funds. Keep it.
Great advice! I have a similar question along those same lines. DD has appointment to USNA and I've told her to hold on to NROTC scholarship just in case. My question is does she proceed with accepting at the NROTC college as well? They're looking for a $400 deposit on May 1. Should I think of...
Great advice! My wife and I were thinking just the opposite...bigger group for I-day and less on PPW. I think we'll switch it up...but will ask DD her thoughts.
Thanks for sharing the link. As my DD goes from accepting her appointment to I-day...there's a lot to learn and become familiar with about the USNA (both for parents and future Plebe)!
