  • Our DS is a current yuk and is having a very tough time academically and emotionally. We understand that it’s a tough year, because of the academics, busy schedule and restrictions of COVID-19. He is considering quitting. He says that he is talking to his leadership and other cadets and it does help. Is there any advice you can give to parents going through something like this? What can we do to help him? Thanks

    Hi,

Yuk year is tough. It's been my least favorite year, worse than plebe year all things considered.

The most important thing to mention is to think about things in a big picture view. I tell myself when it gets tough - life is not about short term pleasures. If you understand that the long-term satisfaction is better than the short-term discomfort, then you are more enabled to persevere.

    I hope this helps.

    Hi,
He decided to stick it out and return for the Spring semester. There are many details that I did not mention that made him feel that way. Two of them are failing classes and depressed from the restrictions. Now his big decision on the top of his mind is whether to stick it out and affirm. Did you also have many doubts and why? What ultimately made you decide to affirm? What regiment and company are you in?
