My DD did not pass the 1st CFA with a 10 sec arm hang. During home practice she was able to do 1 pull up but came testing day she couldn’t do it. She was given a 2nd chance and had a month to retake. She refused to practice the arm hang. It was going to be 1 pull-up or nothing. She practiced...
Curious if for retests does admissions take the best scores from the 1st and 2nd tests or do they only look at the scores for the 2nd test. Does anyone know?
Agree with @MidCakePa. My DS arrived the night before and had no problems. He said it took him about 3 days to acclimate. The one thing is practice running in your boots before I day. He did that every day for a month before leaving. No blisters or shin splints during BCT.
I would imagine the SA weighs gpa and standardized tests about the same but may have some flexibility with the gpa. Meaning they also look at classes taken and the school. But you definitely need to work on pulling up or at least "not sinking" your GPA. Talk to the teachers to see what they...
Just curious at what point the denials will be sent. My DD application is still pending and she applied in mid Jan. It would have been nice for her to attend the SLE because she is still not sure if she wants to apply to WP. She will probably apply and if gets an appointment, I guess we can...
Just want to say that my DS received his appointment last year in the middle of April with a conditional to still pass the medical waiver. It was another 2 wks of stressful waiting. As everyone else says “it’s not over until you get a TWE. But don’t drive yourself crazy checking the portal...
My DS went last summer. He said he got the most out of talking to the cadets because they were Open and honest about their experience at USAFA. Like anything, you get out what you put into it.
The AFA appointee booklet specifically states "do not use Lyft or Uber; they are not guaranteed entrance to the Academy." There is a phone number to Yellow Cab company given that has pre-approved access onto USAFA. Make sure your DS looks at page 14 of the appointee booklet prior to I-day to...
Pgs 8-10 of your appointee handbook discusses mode travel, housing/hotel, transportation, reimbursement etc. Pg 14 also specifically lists a taxi company to use that has pre-approved access onto USAFA.
First Congrats on your son’s acceptance! My DS is arriving 1 day prior. I would invite you to join the USAFA parent c/o 2023 FB group. It's been extremely helpful with these kind of questions.
The day my DS got his appointment, I pretty much told him to double and triple check himself on any decisions he makes that could negatively impact his appointment. This includes participating in any contact sports, taking photos or making social media posting that "could be interpreted" in a...
My DS tried to set up AAFCU acct online and received an email back that they could not set up because they did not a list of the c/o 2023 from AFA. He hasn't had the time to call them yet. Hopefully will not be too much of a hassle to get done. Still slowly working through all the paperwork...
I would suggest to really think about who you ask to write your letters of recommendation. Since my DS practically did the entire application process himself (my only involvement was taking him to the MD appts) I don't know what are the requirements. But if the person writes about your...
If I remember correctly fiver6962 was making statements such as the AFA giving low gpa so cadets could not successfully transfer to other school (or something similar to that effect). I'm not sure how you are stating that his comments are "true." This is one person's opinion. If that was the...
TB is not on the list of required immunizations to receive prior to I-day. For the polio vaccination, check with your child's pediatrician or larger chain pharmacy. There are also preprinted prescriptions on the portal for the polio and Td vaccination that you can take to the doctor or...
