USAA is nice because we were able to drop our son since he is at USMA w/o a vehicle and as long as he does not drive more than 30 days at a time when home we can keep him off the policy. I would think other insurance would be similar. Not sure it would benefit him to open his own USAA policy...
If you can do so I highly recommend it. My DS had USNA as his top choice and was invited for a two night stay there and was still set on it. He was then invited for an overnight stay at USMA and we went basically so he could rule it out and confirm his ranking as USNA being first, but that...
Doors did not slam last year, but several started leaving prior to the last cadets entering and the doors closing. Very powerful image to see the final cadet walk in and the massive doors close behind them that some missed.
Similar for DS. Bought him an iPad on A Day weekend. Had to be one of a short list of approved models and the USMA IT team had to do something to authorize it and now he can access internet/Netflix etc.
He is a very goal oriented and driven individual. I think a lot of it was influenced by the cadet and midshipman that he was paired with at each. The midshipman overslept both mornings, talked about how to get out of responsibilities, etc. The entire USMA experience was more regimented which...
Have you had the opportunity to visit both? DS was set on USNA, especially following CVW. Was invited for an overnight at USMA and decided to go just to rule it out. That changed his mind completely and he has not regretted it one bit.
We emailed in additional documentation detailing DS condition from our private physician including a letter written from the physician and were successful in receiving a waiver.
We did Nanuet for Rday, lots of restaurants and convenient to the giant mall. Did Fishkill for Aday. Far enough for DS to feel away from West Point but still close enough to be convenient. Doing IHG West Point for Plebe Parent weekend to be really close.
