What are my chances of a 4 year AFROTC Scholarship?

@SulfuricEnvy My son applied last year. He had 1390 SAT, 3.75 unweighted GPA, very good extracurriculars and did not get an AFROTC scholarship. His interview lasted about 10 minutes and was obviously not very good. He also applied for NROTC scholarship, had an excellent interview where the...

    Navy ROTC Class of 2022

Update on #18. DS has decided to turn down the scholarship to VT and will attend our in-state university as a programmer in the AFROTC detachment. The Navy was always a distant second to AF and he did not receive an AFROTC scholarship. The in-state school was always his first choice, but we...

    Army Reserves & NROTC

Right, that is what I figured. It was just than an old timer told me the other day that it was possible. Doesn't pass the smell test, however.

    Army Reserves & NROTC

I know this is a bit of a different issue, but wanted to see if any of you knew the answer. If someone goes through NROTC, can they get commissioned into a different service (AF) upon graduation? If so, would it make a difference is he/she was on NROTC scholarship?

@QWE123 When was your DS awarded the scholarship?

    Anxious mom seeks advice

Another note is that your son will have the opportunity to apply for 3 year and 2 year NROTC scholarships while in college. Strong performance in academics and in the NROTC unit will be required, but it is certainly doable. The question then becomes are you willing to take the gamble paying...

    Anxious mom seeks advice

@momneverquits Firstly, take 3 deep breaths and relax. :) Next, if your son's goal is to be a Naval Officer there are many paths to get there that don't include USNA or NROTC Scholarship. Attending your in-state university and joining the associated NROTC unit will most likely get him to his...

AFROTC or NROTC For Pilot Slot

Sorry if this has been covered elsewhere, I did not see it... Does anyone know the annual # of pilots trained in AF and Navy? Or % of applicants that get rated slots? If someone's goal is to be a pilot and open to either AF or Navy ROTC, does it make a big difference which ROTC he enters...

    NROTC Scholarships

@kinnem Thanks, got the letter in the mail today and it says Tier 1. The website and email did not have that information.

    NROTC Scholarships

@ProudDad17 Thanks, but I am looking for what Tier the awarded scholarship is for. I see on these boards that people were awarded Tier 1, 2, etc, but I don't see on the award which Tier the scholarship is for. Do I just assume that it is for the major that was listed?

    NROTC Scholarships

Where did you see the Tier of the scholarship, for the required major? I don't see it in the email or on the portal.

Virginia Tech Room and Board for CC

@Seahunt Did your admissions acceptance notification on the guest portal indicate anything about CC? I don't see anything there and am wondering if that is normal.

Virginia Tech Room and Board for CC

I am curious about the Emerging Leader Scholarship. Did you receive those with the initial Financial Aid award statement received from VT just after being admitted, or was it later? Just received award statement today and curious if there are other scholarships awarded later in the process.

AFROTC Scholarship for current college student

Does the Air Force award scholarships for students already in college? On the ROTC website I only see information for scholarships for current high school students. Does anyone have experience receiving a scholarship as a college freshman or older?
