    Army Navy Ticket Refunds?

And yes, for sure we will invest the money in one of the foundations but would imagine the refund comes first...if anyone has already done it, again, I'd appreciate a heads up. Now trying to decide on the travel reservation to and from Philly/Colorado for 3 people...

    Army Navy Ticket Refunds?

Any skinny on what the game attendance might look like? I picture some sort of lottery for a few thousand seats but am wondering if anyone knows what options they may be considering...all speculation welcome, hahaha. We still have travel plans, as well, no small feat. Or is it time to request...

    Alcohol - Upperclassmen

Remember, as well, we're the only 'civilized' country on the planet that makes beer and wine illegal until 21...my family in Italy laughs at us and our Puritanical legacy, which makes it far more of an issue than it could and should be. When your mids go abroad, they are subject to the laws of...

    Alcohol - Upperclassmen

They had an open bar on the yard last night for those of age...well deserved in my opinion. And as a USAFA alum, if you can't deal with it, you're going have a hard time in any of the services.

    Plebes Dropping Already

From what I hear from a lowly company training officer, detailers are working like crazy to avoid heat related incidents...somewhere around 60 hospital visits for 2024 so far since plebes were in the AC for 2 weeks non-stop prior to a dynamic commencement of training. Detailers also attentive...

Class of 2024: The Journey Begins

Couple updates: 1. DS says that thus far, the in-processing is going very well. Only 1 case of positive Covid he has heard of, promptly quarantined. By comparison, it's going way better than what I hear from my alma mater in C Springs. USAFA let the inbound doolies keep their phones and...

    I-Day 2020

Looks like my alma mater (USAFA) is sticking with the 25th of June for I-day. I'd be very surprised if USNA doesn't do the same. I know our soon to be detailer is chomping at the bit to get out of Dodge and back to the real work. He detailed last summer and will again this year for the last...

When will I receive my Letter of Appointment?

You're correct again, Capt MJ...looks like it was an email with a link to https://www.usna.edu/Admissions/PermitToReport/

When will I receive my Letter of Appointment?

What you should really be looking for is your PTR package, at this point.

prep school offer - what to advise DD?

I'm also a USAFA grad (back in the brown shoe days) who went on to get a PhD at Stanford in Aero/Astro, not on the AF's dime. The programs are strong at both schools but as stated, they have entirely different missions. The ROTC programs at Stanford are strong, shared with UC Berkeley and have...

    VP Nomination for USNA

Although only a single data point, the VP nom seems to be the stealth fighter of the nomination process that appears at the last second out of nowhere, but packs plenty of punch. DS received one 3 years ago, the day before the USAFA deadline to fulfill an LOA, even though he'd already accepted...

Is the Naval Academy interested in exoskeletons?

DS, '21, is in this major and did a two block, six-week internship at MIT last summer, which now seems like a million years ago. Believe me that there are plenty of places and needs in the fleet to exercise the skills he developed.

(To current academy cadets) What is your favorite part about being at the Academy?

Zoomie is used plenty at USAFA, or at least back in the day...we considered ourselves similar to animals in a zoo...and a blue zoo, at that. Many probably think the word comes from a zooming airplane, but the roots are in the analogy to a zoo.

(To current academy cadets) What is your favorite part about being at the Academy?

As a former zoomie, without pause I'd say 1. the friends I made and, 2. seeing USAFA in my rear view mirror after graduation. I find it humorous when parents brag about how much their Mids (squids, just to finish appropriate terminology) are enjoying USNA...safe to say the vast majority are...
