So I was given a disqualifying eye exam by a doctor saying my vision is too bad for the US Army in February. Then I go to about 12 other eye doctors to verify that my vision is in fact well within regulations. And to add a bit of insult to injury, when I go for an ROTC eye exam to the doctor...
Well... RC informed me now I need to wait for someone to get hurt. He was very sorry about the fact that the waiver wait is why I wasn't attending, but there is hope. I'm already a junior in ROTC so I should just be happy with that.
I talked to him today. I'm his top spot if anyone gives up their slot. But other than that no. Basically if I had been 3 Q'd I'd have been in, but requesting a waiver took way too long.
The problem is my RC said I'm definitely still in the running. Do you think I just haven't been notified of a decision or he would just rather wait for official correspondence to break the news to me? He has emailed me and verbally told me that I have not been told no yet.
So my RC Tech just said I've been queued Academically, but there is no real date that I can expect the waiver authority to do anything. So just wait until that clears up. I just hope this deadline isn't May 1st like everyone says.
I verified with the medical review board today. I am now confident in my answer. If all remedial information was submitted then you are still being considered. If you haven't provided a response to this then it is over for this year.
So I'm getting conflicting information here. My Regional Commander said that if I hadn't responded to the remedial by the 15th I'm out. But if I had submitted everything they asked for, I will still be considered.
Well it takes 5 business days for DoDMETS to get the orders to schdule you an exam. If you find your own and pay for it you can save that time. But you can also take the correspondence to a MTF on an installation to get it taken care of asap.
