The hard part is - at this age in particular - many believe that a valid excuse is that it was an accident or they didn't know. I hope the prospective cadet got the message.

Thanks for the great words on the "drug use" issue. They don't understand the severity of "mistakes." Brig. Gen. Joseph Anderson, deputy commander of the U.S. Army Recruiting Command, said, "We are not even going to consider" applicants who test positive for drugs or alcohol, or have adult felony convictions such as assault, arson and robbery. So if this is the case for enlisted recruits, imagine for the officer ranks.
