I'm not sure if this is what you are asking - but the first year, there are significant (for our family) costs that qualify at QHEE - The required technology package, plebe kit, and laundry all qualify.

Thank you for acknowledging that there IS a stigma to getting/asking for help! I have mentioned it to other parents and they tell me I am wrong, but my plebe showed me on his phone where others told him he isn't smart enough to be there if he needs to ask for help.

Does anyone know if the controversial painting is on display in its new location? Parents Weekend is coming up, and I would like to see it before forming an opinion.

And US Naval Sea Cadets too! They can start as young as 10 and stay through HS. LOTS of opportunities to explore different military careers, etc. 25% go officer after graduation and 40% enlist. AND they can enlist at a higher rate. Friend's son went in as an E3 straight out of boot.

With swimming, is the focus on perfecting the strokes, speed, or being able to cover distances/float/survival? My DS can swim long distances (used swimming as a cardio exercise) and float/tread water. But he isn't super fast, and his strokes aren't 'pretty.'

I agree with what you said, but at the same time - someone that is committed enough, that they ARE willing to go through Plebe year again, really wants it and you know USMMA believes they are capable and the Plebes are going to work their butts off to make it happen.

The concept of not drawing attention to your family member, is that mostly when they are a Plebe? Can they get a birthday cake/care package when they are upper classmen?
