First(?) Wave of Appointments being sent out.

That's awesome - congratulations! I have not heard anything from USMMA so it is nice to see them sending out information. Curious if you have a presidential nomination? It is still a little early for most appointments unless you have the nomination secured early.
 
I don’t believe USMMA participates in presidential noms. It is early for an appointment, usually LOA’s from USMMA come out around now.

Applicants must be nominated to the Academy by a U.S. Representative or U.S. Senator from your State of Residence/Domicile. An applicant does not have to reside in the same Congressional District as his/her nominator (a Member of the U.S.

  • The United States Merchant Marine Academy does not accept Vice Presidential or military service-connected nominations, i.e. Presidential, Regular/Reserve Component, ROTC.

I forgot to add that it's acceptance reservation not proper acceptance, it's contingent upon nomination and DoDMERB.

These are indeed conditional appointment offers, not full offers of appointment. There will be those who do not satisfy the conditions and do not receive an appointment. Almost indistinguishable from an LOA.

The devil is in the details.

Just curious, around what date did you roughly finish your application? thanks!
 
Congratulations. Also wondering if you received an email or change of status on your application ahead of the fedex.
 
This is inline with the FedEx LOA my DS got around this time years ago. He got final appointment in December.
 
DS was contacted several times via email on Friday about some follow up questions to his application.....fingers crossed I hope that is a good sign! They asked to have the counselor call them today to clarify some course work content....
