Army ROTC 2023-2024 2nd Board

Yes. Based on prior years, some 3-year winners from this January board will be bumped up to 4-year awards after the March board. I can't claim to know exactly how that works, but I assume it has to do with where you are on the master OML. The cutoff line for 4-year scholarships probably gets adjusted after the last board, based on others who have many declined and/or available funding, and then whoever is above that line gets bumped up.
From my understanding (and reading the announcement email three years ago), that's correct. They upgrade the top 3 year winners to reach 1000 4 year scholarships awarded. That was a glorious day for us parents and an "oh, by the way" announcement to us from my cadet, lol.

So, does anyone know definitively whether getting a 3-year offer on the second board an indication you have a better chance of getting bumped up to a 4-year in March?

Weird note in the banner, but it does seem that status's are now final. There may be a few weird things going as referenced with the note.

I should (emphasis on should, you never know) check all the boxes (1520 SAT, 3.95 Unweighted GPA, Eagle Scout, Boys State, Varsity, etc. etc.) My one weakness is more middle of the road PFA scores. This is not to toot my own horn or anything, but I'm simply skeptical to not receive at least a 3yr.
Your stats are similar to my daughter's, plus she's a recruited DI athlete to her #1 school, where she is academically well above the average, and a female engineering major. The ROO literally said "oh man, you'll get a 3-4 year scholarship and then {Ivy in same state} will come calling." It appears that she did not get a scholarship, and has emailed her ROO.

All applicants are ranked. The 2nd board leaves some 4 years to be awarded on the 3rd board. those new 3rd board applicants are placed in the ranking order and 4 year scholarships are awarded from top down. If you got a 3 year on the second board you may or may not be near the cut off for 4 years and you may or may not be upped to a 4 year. My advice is be happy with the 3 year. There are many people here who would be thrilled to have your 3 year scholarship right now. If you get upped to a 4 year that’s a bonus, but shouldn’t be expected unless your application puts you closer to the top.

That is very surprising and makes me wonder if there weren't some mistakes made when the portal went down.

My hope is that whatever errors they mentioned on the banner involve people like me and your daughter, and I get a surprise email saying I awarded a scholarship on Monday or something. Its not the end of the world though, and there is still March.

This is crazy honestly, I also thought i had really good stats for this application but I guess you really never know.

DD was awarded 3yr AROTC for army nurse corp to her top 3 nursing schools on west coast. Amazed by her and all those who endured the rigor of this application process. Her older brother is a senior 4yr from AROTC second board 4 yrs ago. Congratulations, to all winners!

DD applied in 1st board and was bumped. She’s a 4yr varsity soccer/ecnl player, EC prez, volunteer, 3.8 unweighted, aced her physical and interview. For those who didn’t make it this round, hang in there. The fact you want to serve and use your gifts in this way is a blessing and will be rewarded 🙏🇺🇸

Oh, no scholarship for our family. 1520 SAT, 3.5ish unweighted, single-sport national level DI athlete. Not super strong on the leadership, great interview and good PT score maxing 2 categories, although I'm not sure what exact score was. I suppose the ROO saying "I'd be baffled" if you don't get a scholarship did not deserve the weight we gave it. :(

Do not despair just yet! There is still the March board. I'm confident that you, me and everyone else here that did not receive a scholarship will get one after the March board. 😁

FYI: If you received a scholarship offer in the January board, you may now be able to create your DODMETS account and begin the medical process. It worked for my DS.

should I accept my scholarship if I am waiting for West Point or a four year in March?
Yes by 3/9 unless the scholarship you won was an ECP/minuteman scholarship.

Not sure how you are waiting on a 4yr scholarship if you already were given a 3yr... a 4yr would be an upgrade rather than a 'new' scholarship

I am also curious if anyone has any tips for how to strengthen my application aside from getting a better SAT/ACT score. I maxed out the running and sit up portion of the PFA but only got 40 on the push ups, so I'll probably redo it if I have the time. I was told the max for males was 6:30 mile, 50 Sit Ups and 50 Push Ups is that correct? I can definitely run faster in the mile if it isn't 😅 . I ran 6:10, but as a track athlete my actual PR is 4:53 so I was wondering if it makes a difference if I go all out. Aside from these is there anything else I can do to strengthen my application.

Good to know. DS is still waiting on West Point & don’t know if he will receive a response before the due date.
My DS is waiting on academy appointments too, but is going to accept his scholarship.

Can anyone please send me a link to the portal? I still can’t open my DS previous application? Thank you!

My DS still cannot log in to the portal since it went down, but he did get emails today from ROO at 2 schools (Cornell and Notre Dame) congratulating him on his 4 year scholarship awarded to their universities.
It is usually 3 schools that are awarded, or does it vary?
Wishing he could log on to get his letter and see his list, but also so grateful to have the emails to know he was awarded the 4 year scholarship!

I cant get on the website even though my password is correct. It says incorrect username or password over and over. Anyone know how to fix this?
My son also having the same issue, cannot log in saying his password is incorrect.
He only found out he got a 4 year scholarship today because his two top schools emailed him to congratulate him.
But he still hasn't been able to log in to get his letter.
