Cross Town Boost/Worth Visiting Cross Town?

This might be a strange question, but I’ve been pondering the thought. I’ve visited some colleges and their respective arotc/afrotc/nrotc programs (I’m a junior in HS currently) but all have had their own programs. I’ve additionally heard that getting a scholarship first might add a little boost to competitive schools (I’m looking towards low ivies, other t20’s). Does that stand true for cross town programs? I suppose not, as a school such as NYU without an AROTC has no influence on Fordhams program, but I can’t be sure.

A bit of a broader question, is it worth visiting a crosstown school’s rotc program/advisors although you are not interested in the school itself? Have any of you gone through something similar? Any help appreciated, thanks very much.

What benefits do you see in visiting a school you have no interest in?? Seems like a waste of both your time and the schools. I would not put much thought into the "scholarships boosts admissions" theory. It is very subjective and would likely not be as big of a boost as you are envisioning. Academics, athletics, test scores, essays, etc are much more important than having a scholarship in hand.

Work on what you have control over, and don't worry about the things you don't. Good luck

IME - you might want to visit the Host School to meet the cadre even if you intend to enroll in a cross town school. Cadre at the Host School were able to coordinate with a cross town cadet for an overnight on campus visit to understand the logistics of travel for Class, Lab, and PT.

Good advice and there is no "boost" to getting a scholarship based on the school applied to. The scholarship is merit-based, not colleges applied based. The only thing that may give you a boost is if you are a nursing major. The Army needs nurses.

This question gets asked a lot. At some of those top schools you're looking at, the scholarship doesn't really provide a "boost" to getting into the college. It varies from school to school.

Visit the unit because you're genuinely interested in seeing what life is like as a cadet/midshipman in their unit, not because you're trying to get into an Ivy, they can see right through that
