Should I Email Admissions Counselor Updates to Application

i submitted my application mid-November which was very early.

Since then, I have worked as the first employee / Mechanical Engineering Intern for one of the fastest growing startups in Minnesota, was 1 out of 3 students at my school to serve to check in members at the Council on Educational Standards and Accountability, and traveled to the Dominican Republic to serve the locals by building shelters and delivering food.

Is it worth emailing these updates to my application? I do not know if these things would contribute to helping me get an appointment or if the academy appreciates application updates.

Thanks to everyone who takes their time to answer it is greatly appreciated.

Unfortunately it is past the January 31st deadline which means you cannot update your portal anymore after you have submitted it. I also had something similar where I wanted to add something additional to my app, but my AC said it was too late and I couldnt add anymore unto my app

I’d say it’s worth a try, but given how late in the process they are don’t expect them to be able to add it.

During DS cycle he submitted updates to his admission rep. None were rejected.

It may depend on what the update is. Something that will add to your WCS would have more of a chance of acceptance than something that doesn’t. A Spring sport captaincy, for example.

With Kierkegaard….its worth an email to your admissions rep. Worst that can happen, is a ‘no’. I recall for one of mine, an after submission add. And it had to come through his school counselor directly to USA. I don’t recall beyond that.

Wow mustve been a chill person, my admissions counselor is kind of a nightmare
Policies often evolve. I can’t speak to this cycle outside of my experience as a BGO.

As a mom I would always say that something significant, like a captaincy, a state win, an Eagle Scout project completion, worth making them tell you no.

Also, I would say this process and what comes moving forward if you attend an SA means that expectations reach a new level.

It isn’t that your person is potentially a nightmare, but that this is the new level of deadline, expectation, timeline and the new bar that you and others will be asked to meet.

The flexibility of childhood and civilian life is out the window.

Oh yes of course I understand that which is why a SA appeals more to me over any other college. I only had said that as you mentioned that your sons AC allowed him to make changes to his app the entire process which then led me to believe that this decision on allowing candidates to update their portals is not really based on a "hard and fast deadline", but is a rather subjective decision. Hence, is why I stated what I did about my AC as that individual has been anything but helpful during this process.

Again, each cycle is different, and that is what your applicant is dealing with.
Whether or not an applicant can update their status post the 31 Jan date is always an admission decision. Nothing anyone outside of the process can change or influence.

My DS's BGO recommended that he continue to send significant updates. His emails have been acknowledged, but otherwise no response. Who know if they will look at them, but I don't see how it hurts to send them.

USNA Admissions requires all updates that a HS candidate wishes to be added to their application be sent from a HS guidance counselor.

My son had FF1 & HazMat Ops certifications from our local volunteer fire company that he wanted added to his USNA application; USNA wouldn't accept them from him directly, he had to have his HS guidance counselor upload them.
