USNA Class of 2028 Waiting and Speculating

Still Pending in the Constitution State of Connecticut. My theory, and it's not based on anything concrete, is that the remaining pendings are likely waitlists that will come out by Monday. Just seems like the number of appointments has slowed to barely a trickle. Maybe there will be some NAPS offers too between now and then.

me too. Really bummed
Timing of getting turned down was funny because I got the email right after I was done checking out my plan Bs NROTC unit and am actually very excited to attend that college and love the NROTC unit and the leadership there. Gods timing is wacky sometimes. Just everyone’s friendly reminder to those that get turned down today that not getting into the academy wont make you a bad officer, nor does going to the academy make you a good one. My dad had good and bad officers out of all commissioning sources. Feeling disappointed though is a very real feeling after working so hard for something for four years. Best of luck to everyone regardless of where they go!

We have made peace with the wait, but it is still a curiosity to us. DS is pending without any nominations, so can't see how a waitlist is in his future. Hoping that 4/15 brings closure either way. Admissions asked for a complete HS course breakdown about 2 months ago, but nothing since.

There will likely be a bit of a lull at some point, as acceptances and declinations are tallied. Then USNA will know if they need a waitlist to draw from to proceed to the onesy-twosies left to fill spots. There is no way to predict waitlist size from year to year.

So happy you are back with us. You are like the Jeopardy! champion of service academy admissions.

I just checked my portal and status updated to Turned Down. Possibly the worst feeling ever. Most likely going to take my appointment to USMA.

3 state nominations to USNA. SC District 6.

If anyone wants, I can post my quick resume and stats for comparison.

I recall that was the number range for candidates that start the application process. Some lose interest, some don't get the Nom and drop, injuries, grades, other opportunities, or CFA problems are part of the winnowing down process.
No 14k number includes all these contingencies.

DS still pending in AZ. I agree that this forum has been hugely helpful. Any news from other people is better than nothing while we wait, semi-patiently. Thank you to everyone that has shared their experiences, both positive and negative, and to the veterans for keeping us all grounded.
We are AZ too. What district are you in?
