Easy math - after initial class size is published around I-Day, subtract any foreign mids fro that total, count up appointees here, calculate percentage.

Without crunching any numbers, I would tread 10-12% post here.

Clearly I should not try to type on iPhone, be installing updates on my laptop and checking my business iPhone at the same time. Typos - and now I can’t recall what I meant to type.
 
2021 thread posted 14.5%. 169 posts class size was 1207 not sure of foreign appointments.
 
On 3/1 2021 thread was at 120 appointments. Maybe brief govt shutdown slowed it down just a bit. On 3/13/17 # was at 145. Buckle up.
 
10-12% is a good estimate. there are more offer of appointments (~1400) than the final class size.
 
Brand new member, just joined today, but have been reading all these post for 2 years. It is really a great way to get up to date information and it is so inspiring to hear everyone's story. My son is a college re-applicant. On the wait list last year. Still waiting to hear this year as so many are. I am amazed and so proud to see how many exceptional students apply to the Academy. Living in this world right, this certainly restores my faith. Each applicant should be proud, regardless of the outcome. I know as a parent I am. Thanks everyone for sharing your stories and please keep doing so, it helps with the waiting!!

What spot did your DS have on the waiting list last year? Just curious as a data point for determining how far up on the list you need to be to have a good chance at an appointment. Best of luck to your DS!

The academy does not notify the applicants on their spot or the order they are on in the Wait List. However, only 50-150 people in the nation are Wait Listed every year, so you have a good chance of an appointment when applicants reapply. There already are a few wait listed people from last year who have been accepted. There are some threads on the forum discussing the Wait List more in depth if you want to look into it. Do not believe he was ever given an exact number, just that he was wait listed. He was devastated (we all were) , but he went with his Plan B, is attending a Top Rated University, managed all A's his first Quarter, and reapplied to the Academy, with his fingers crossed. Attending the USNA has been his dream since I can remember. I am guessing that is how it is for most of these young adults. I believe that President Carter applied multiple times before getting an appointment, so those of you out there that get discouraged remember that. Anything worth having is worth waiting for and this is certainly worth a 2nd and even 3rd try if you don't get in immediately. Just shows them how much you want it and how dedicated you are. I know it is hard, this is our 2nd year doing it, but be patient, if it was meant to be it will happen!!!

I have been following all the updates and excitement on this forum for a few weeks. This is one good bunch of people encouraging and helping each other.

I was on a conference call this morning in my home office and my son rushed in to show an email that he received from USNA with a letter of appointment. I screamed out (not sure if it was out of joy or disbelief), thank god I was on mute. We are planning to visit USNA soon. He had CVW scheduled for April 19, but I hope we can make it to the one sooner.

Good luck to all the parents, supporters, and applicants!
 
Congrats to CA-15. That was my old stomping grounds during HS and where I grew up most of my life. Now I am in So. Cal and loving every minute of it. (except the crazy traffic...)

Hopefully my DS will get some good news soon as he is waiting to hear from the swim coach after this weekend (Sectionals swim meet is big and it is going to be raining...that makes it tough for fast times even in So. Cal).

Keep the great comments coming. Either direction my DS will be heading, these comments are a help to figure out what to expect and how to handle what it to come... :)
 
Yes, CONGRATS to all of you that have heard in the last few days. As a son who is a re-applicant this year, not sure if it helps, but if they are applying to the USNA, then we have done a great job raising them and they are more resilient than you can imagine. We are really hoping for good news this years, but no matter the decision, we have given these kids what they need to succeed. I know with my son having to go with Plan B was not what he expected, but it has been good, really good. It has given him the ability to cope with being away from home, getting use to a big school, getting use to college classes, and just coping in general, and I think that will really benefit him if he gets in the Academy this year. I know we thought it was the end of the world last year not getting in, but we survived, and are here another year with a bunch of great parents, all hoping for the golden ticket, and I hope you all get it!!!! (just not ours:)).

Nice... I think both parents here took TWE much harder than our son... I guess we prepared him that he was initially a long shot from the start... but he made it to the final 3Q cuts... That in and of itself is something to be proud of... We had a discussion with him that reapplying will be totally up to him and he can discuss that at his plan B school when we determine what that will be... Now just waiting on NROTC

Quick question how long did it take after application was complete to get notified of answer if appointed or not? Have fleet applicants (prior enlisted) already been informed?
