DQ, DODMERB question

Hello folks,
I have posted before about a DQ that my DS received back on 2/12/18 for a previous knee issue. (hx of osteochondral defect and patellofemoral syndrome). That correspondence in his DODMERB portal stated "any additional medical information submitted now will be forwarded for the waiver authority's review". On 2/20 he had an office visit with the orthopedic Dr that had seen him for such issues in previous years. He wrote a consult note basically saying that he is a varsity track and XC runner who has had no issues in the past year, a perfectly normal exam, and that he never had an osteochondral defect/lesion (MRI did not state OCD), despite his previous notes stating in the past that he could have POSSIBLY had such a lesion. And that he sees no concern that there should be knee issues in the future.
DS emailed this visit note to DODMERB on 2/21, to which his DODMERB contact replied on the same day, that she received it and would process it as soon as possible.
His portal updated, 2/22, "Date Exam Reviewed".
My question is:
Does that mean that DODMERB will review this now and possibly Qualify him?
Or does this update only mean that they have added this into the portal to be looked at ONLY if either USAFA or AFROTC requests a waiver?

Thank you in advance!

Honestly it could work either way. When my son had a DQ for his vision, he had the same statement on his correspondence. We submitted a new vision exam from an ophthalmologist directly to DODMERB, it was reviewed and his status changed to Qualified within a few days after sending it. But, I have heard from others that DODMERB just sent their info to the waiver authority. So my guess is it depends on the situation.

We are in similar situation, DS sent additional records and evaluations to DoDMERB about three weeks ago. AFROTC status updated from “Waiver Denied” to “Pending waiver submission/review”. We were hoping DoDMERB would remove the DQ as eval from physician is essentially a rebuttal but that did not happen so waiting continues....
