APFT Dates

Does anyone know if the dates for the APFT are the same nationwide or does each school do their own?

I know it's within a couple of weeks of school starting.

Each schools does their own. There's usually x2 per semester, a diagnostic APFT thats doesn't count, and a record APFT that counts.

Agree with @USN16x. Each school has its own orientation for AROTC.

Also, if you are a scholarship awardee, you MUST pass the APFT before Army ROTC monies will be disbursed to the college.

Thanks for the info! I know we were told if he doesn't pass by Dec 15th-ish we're responsible for the semester payment.

AROTC-dad is spot on as usual. It is not just his semester tuition at risk, but also his contracting date and other benefits. He will not get his stipend or book money until he contracts, that means passing the APFT, and stipends will not be retroactive. My daughter is the master fitness trainer for her battalion this fall, and she said the freshman are going to do a practice of each section of the APFT during orientation the week before classes start, and then they will do the actual test either Monday or Wednesday of the first week of classes so everyone can get their payments started. This is not just for new scholarship awardees, but for everyone, they have to pass this year before payments start as well. As said above, each school will do it differently, but most try to get it done in the first week or so of school.

Not sure why some schools wait to have incoming scholarship freshman take the test. I gave 4 PT tests over the Summer, and 4 of my 6 scholarship winners will contract on the first day of school (and start their stipend). Waiting until school starts causes Cadets to lose stipend....but each school is different. Giving the test prior to the start of school (perhaps at orientation) allows the Cadet to start receiving benefits as early as possible.

My son has a 4 year scholarship and is a MS1. The lack of information concerning "contracting" is rather disturbing. I was NROTC ,
( years ago )but I dont recall anything like this delay about "contracting". Its October 5 cadets have been there since August.

The only reason a freshman shouldn’t be contracted yet is if he or she hasn’t met all the requirements. What is your Cadet telling you?
