Nut Allergy

I am just curious to know if anyone out there knows of situations in which someone attended USMA on a waiver for a nut allergy. My son received an LOA in November for USMAPS which was his choice. He wanted to attend prep school first. We were obviously ecstatic. He was then DQ’d for a hx if a nut allergy. He has never had anaphylaxis just a few reactions as a child with hives. USMA requested a waiver on his behalf and we waited 120 days with no word. On april 15th they requested he see an allergist and get skin testing done. And they wanted it rushed... so after all that waiting they have us jumping through hoops. The allergist first gave him a blood test which has shown high levels of peanut antibodies despite no severe reactions. He is scheduled for the skin test Monday.
We are obviously devastated and incredibly stressed. I can’t believe this is how it will end for my son! Any words of wisdom or advice?
What a difficult process this is!

Check out immunization/desensitization programs, especially the New England Food Allergy Treatment Center (NEFTAC) located in West Hartford, CT. It is not that far of a drive from USMA; however, this is not a "quick fix". Rather it is a solution over months of effort, but it will pay off. This will eventually make one able to consume allergens and lower blood test levels as a result. https://nefoodallergy.org

Ironically enough I made an appointment at this office today ... we live in CT, only 30 minutes from West Hartford! My son wants to start OIT. We have an appointment on May 9. It seems some applicants have been able to get through a waiver process on a second round after OIT. It’s given us some hope.
