Shadow boxes for JROTC/Young Marines/CAP/Sea Cadets?

Has anyone made a shadow box for their child for the time that they spent in JROTC, Young Marines, CAP, Sea Cadets, and etc?

I want to make a shadow box for Marine Corps JROTC and another for Young Marines. I'd love some guidance, pictures, ideas from those who have made one for their kids. I've built them for retiring service members, but I'm kind of lost when it comes to the ones for the kids.

Just add all the fruit salad and hang it on the wall.

We do them for our JROTC cadets (seniors) as a graduation gift.
