For those who have received a USMMA appointment (congrats!!), how were you notified? DS was notified of the LOA via FedEx, so just wondering if it is the same for an appointment notification. Thank you!

From anything I read the method of transmittal may vary. I’ve seen FedEx mentioned as well as USPS registered or certified mail. Keep in mind, and I’m quoting from a congressional site “A Letter of Assurance (LOA) is a letter sent to the candidate from the Admissions Office by the Academy advising that the Academy is offering a Conditional Appointment to the Academy provided the candidate successfully completes the application process, the medical review by the Department of Defense, and the physical fitness assessment and receives a nomination from their Congressman or Senators. Letters of Assurance are conditional and subject to review throughout the entire application process.

Candidates receive Letters of Assurance based upon outstanding ACT/SAT scores early in the process, and other information the candidate has submitted to the Admissions Office. It is highly recommended candidates prepare well for ACT/SAT tests and take them “early and often.”

Your nominating authority is notified first in case he/she wants to be the one to inform the candidate by phone. After 24 hours, the official appointment notification comes via FedEx.

To add in, our DS received a call yesterday evening from our Congressman's aide. He called him directly to inform him he had received him Appointment and to expect a FedEx today or tomorrow with the actual Appointment paperwork. Nothing like driving down the road and receiving this news while we were all together. It was amazing.

So fun 🤩! Congratulations! We were just talking today as a family how we were on vaca together when our DS (#1) got the call that he received his NROTC scholarship. Definitely memorable!

My son received email from the senator that FedEx would be sent tomorrow with his appointment! Yay! When do they get the reporting instructions? Or is that posted somewhere?

When does the portal say you got the appointment? is this one of those stop looking at the portal because the phone will ring first?

His portal still says nothing new and doesn't even have medical checked off. He's been waiting on the waiver and saw in DoDMERB that the waiver was granted then got the email. So, for him, USMMA portal is the last to update.

The reporting instructions do not get sent out until April. You can find instructions from prior years on USMMA website and they do not change much from year to year. You can start by getting your passport and TWIC card and making sure you have all your immunizations up to date.

My DD received a call from her MOC that she received an appointment. He told her to expect the letter in the mail in the next 2 days.

We opened our front door this afternoon (Sunday) and there was a FedEx package there from USMMA with DD's LOA!! What a great surprise!! 🫡

DD received two seperate emails on Wednesday that she had received nominations from our State Senator and Congresswoman. We received our Congresswoman's "formal nomination", yesterday, via USPS.

Exciting times!!!
