You don't enlist for OTS. If you are trying to say that while you are enlisted you will get your degree and apply for OTS than you always risk the chance that they will not have many openings . IE for the AF it is traditional to do 2 boards a year. However, there have been times in the past few years that they cancelled the 2nd non-rated board.
Yes. I know. But.. my doubt is: graduate college first and then enlist to earn the citizenship OR enlist and take college degree while on duty?
OTS/PCSM:GPA+AFOQT+TBAS+Flight Hours
125 candidates/class; 7 classes/FY; < 900 Candidates/FY
Only a few UPT slots
I know you think that all you need is doing a year and boom you are going to be very competitive. For some that is true, but for the majority it is not, It is years . the 2 in my DS UPT class both eeked in at 27. They went OTS right b4 UPT
I am beginning to think that what your fear is getting citizenship and the best way is to enlist to fast track this aspect. If that is the case than your options truly are limited to enlist, but realize you may never get that officer slot because you can't plan your future to 100% certainty.
OBTW, you have stated that coming here and attending college is not a financial burden for the folks. Now the ??? are...are they giving you a time frame? Have you done due diligence regarding the process for becoming a citizen....or is your info, WELLL, I was told...xyz!
Sorry, I am not trying to be mean. I am just saying if you can afford schooling like you have stated publicly, and citizenship is in the bag, as you stated...why take the route that is much harder and will delay your goal of becoming a pilot? I am not following.
Pima,
My goal is (was) become a USAF 11FX.
But.. As I understood, is almost IMPOSSIBLE for me become a commissioned officer(sadly) because of factors that I can't control. On the other hand, I don't want become a CIVILIAN pilot.I wish fly military aircrafts and not civilian aircrafts as a professional job.
You missed my point. If the folks can afford you to attend college while working through the citizenship issue than ROTC is probably a better bet, In the end if it takes 4 years while in college you can go OTS right off the bat after graduation. You will not be juggling ADAF enlisted and college at the same time
I respect enlisted more than I do in some ways officers. Have you actually looked up DFAS.mil...pay system? Financially it is not an easy life for young enlisted.
PJ....I don't think you have done due diligence You are talking about the AF Seal/Rangers. It is the elite. Same with CRO. It is not a cake walk. I am not sure that statistically you have better chance of getting a fighter pilot than becoming a PJ as enlisted. My guess is fighter pilot has a higher chance.
