    Prayers

God is good. After testing, they finally figured out what was wrong. I won't go into specifics to try and protect his privacy but they have figured it out. He does have a disease, and will have to continue to receive treatment for the rest of his life, but he should be able to live a fairly...

    Prayers

Thank you for your thoughts guys. Sadly, his condition started to deteriorate around dinnertime. Things aren't looking too good right now; last I heard he's in critical condition. I'm praying that they'll be able to figure out what's wrong, and soon.

    Prayers

SAF, for those of you so inclined, I'd ask you to keep one of my classmates in your thoughts and prayers today. My friend has been throwing up for 3-5x or more, almost every day since January. He has lost almost 30 pounds and is honestly a shadow of the fun-loving kid he used to be. The...

    SAT Score vs. Grades?

Thank you for the advice everyone! I signed up to take the ACT June 13th, so I'm hoping it yields better results than the SAT did. Does anyone have any advice for taking the ACT? I'm the first one in my family/class to take it, so outside of Google I don't have a great idea of what to expect.

    SAT Score vs. Grades?

Once again, greetings to all my fellow SAF folks. For those who don't know, I'm currently a female, sophomore in high school, located in Hicksville, USA ;) for a few years now, I have become very interested in attending USNA, with my career after that unknown. Some stats for you, I am ranked...

    Lack of Learning

Kinnem- great idea! I've never thought about asking the kids in the remediation course if it helps them with their math/English skills. MedB- Thank you very much for the kind words! I've got to thank my 8th grade teacher for that one- I probably wrote around 25 papers that year. I was very...

    Lack of Learning

NavyHoops, totally agree that the idea is a good one, just not a fan of the execution. I've considered getting together with the top 5-10 kids in my sophomore class to write a proposal to our principal, but we're all a little hesitant because we think we'd get ignored/punished. Not even our...

    Lack of Learning

This is a debate I've been mulling over in my head for months now, and I'd love to hear what others think about it. My high school hired a new principal my freshman year- last year. He has made some radical changes to my small school (~140 class size). Some good, some bad. His new brainchild...

    Leadership?

Hello everyone- To achieve my goal of becoming a Marine officer, I know that the leadership side of my persona needs some improvement. The only 'official' leadership I have held to this point (sophomore year) is team co-captain of the varsity cross country team. As team co-captain me and my...

    NROTC-MO Chances?

Thanks USMCGrunt! Being a native Hoosier, believe me I know how hard it is to get into Notre Dame  I did retake the PSAT about a month ago; the first time I took it was 2 months into freshman year. To say I was lost in the math section would be an understatement. I'll get the scores...

    NROTC-MO Chances?

Thank you for the ideas guys. If leadership's something I need to work on then I guess that's what I'll do :thumb:

    NROTC-MO Chances?

Do you have any suggestions? I go to a small high school; we really don't have any clubs other than athletics. If I don't make varsity softball come spring, I would be the JV team captain and I'll be a co-captain on cross country until I graduate. Basketball is iffy, I've been told I'll most...

    NROTC-MO Chances?

Hello everyone, I am currently a high school sophomore interested in pursuing a career as an officer in the Marine Corps via NROTC. My #1 school had been the Naval Academy, but after realizing that I was not guaranteed a Marine slot, I started to look at other options. My question is this...

    Feedback

I live in a tiny town, so there's not too much to do, but I will enter a program my senior year where I go to school for about half a day then I leave and work until 5, or vice versa! Thank you for the feedback, it's much appreciated :D

    Feedback

Hello all, I've been a member here for around 2 years now, but I just recently logged back in. Attending a service academy, specifically USNA, has been a dream for quite sometime. Before everyone jumps all over me, yes, I am aware that you can't tell me what my chances are, and that's not what...

    AFROTC vs. USAFA

I have always wanted to fly in general, but fighter jets have always been my first choice. I would most likely serve and get out, so Ill think on this carefully. My dream is to be an athletic trainer for the Indiana men's basketball team, after playing women's ball there myself. I do have a...

    AFROTC vs. USAFA

I just went back and reread the information. I thought that I could pursue a degree of my choice, but it appears that it is not so. If I want to do the athletic training/sports medicine I would have to go back to school. Well this is a sticky situation. Thank you for clarifying "Dad" :)

    AFROTC vs. USAFA

Hello everyone- I've been doing some research. I have wanted to go to the AFA for quite some time now, due to the fact that I've wanted to fly my entire life. I only have one issue- the degrees offered at USAFA do not match up with what I wish to be after my service obligation is up. I want to...

    Any Comments on my chances?

I know this isn't what you want to hear, but no one can tell you for sure. Keep on taking AP classes, and take the SATs/ACTs multiple times. Try to attend girls state, and apply for the summer seminar in the summer of your junior year.
