The importance of choosing a college you can afford...

She LOVED the Marines, (and if I'm honest, her attachment loved her as the only mid in her unit to pass the class one PFE among other things) but the med board did not waive her. Thanks though! Still hoping Army comes through.

The importance of choosing a college you can afford...

I want to reiterate some sound advice posted previously on this board, as my daughter, two years ago, said "It would be cool to go to MIT!" Yes, indeed, it would have been. At the same time she was applying for ROTC scholarships, she applied to the Coast Guard Academy, in the end, accepting...

Received tuition payment and not medically qualified

UPDATE: The University of Minnesota Twin Cities give a provisional credit in anticipation of the scholarship, and so we wait and worry. Thanks all for your input!

Received tuition payment and not medically qualified

Thank you! I hope that's the reality. This has been a long painful process, and DD wants to serve with all her heart, and putting all her blood, sweat and tears into it with no guarantees so far!

Received tuition payment and not medically qualified

Don't know. This is a recent development and DD is too fully engulfed in training to pay attention to my questions. LOL!

Received tuition payment and not medically qualified

That's the maddening part: DoDMERB's website does not show her status, and according to her contact, "Never did and never will..." Even though I've seen her status posted in the past. Hmmm.....

Received tuition payment and not medically qualified

DD received a tuition payment from NROTC-MO already and to my knowledge she's still waiting on waiver decisions. Is this a sign that said waivers were approved, or more likely a sign that this payment will need to be paid back if she's not waived? Trying not to count my chickens, but endlessly...

Sudden status change to does not meet medical standards

    That is my understanding.

Sudden status change to does not meet medical standards

Contacted DD DoDMERB contact as she was getting duplicate requests for AMI. Website still not fully functional, and she said statuses were never and will never be shared on the DoDMERB site (even though for years, we've been seeing status) so, long answer short, watch your e-mail for...

    DoDMERB Status Update Unavailable

Can't even reach the page. Wow...just wow. DD has been in the system for months waiting for waiver status and has to choose either Marines or Army next week for NSO. This has been a massive fail of technology and lack of/ miscommunication. If DD weren't so determined to serve, I'd be SO over this!

    DodMerb Website

DD in the same boat. Accepted both AROTC and NROTC-MO scholarships, is currently at NROTC-MO indoc, and has to choose soon. This all depends on a waiver decision so it doesn't come down to which branch is most likely to give her a waiver. she'll have to hit it hard regarding communication with...

2 week NROTC Orientation - Middle of the Summer?

Here's an update, since you asked, Kinnem. DD wrote a "mandatory" letter home. Since she was at CGA last year for Swab Summer before being medically DQed, she has some experience with this type of thing. Last week they did PFEs (She passed, but her LT would like to see her do better), did some...

DoDMERB website down from 13/July/2018 until 29/July/2018?

Her contact at DoDMERB has been super helpful in corresponding via e-mail, and DD has taken care of everything she can to this point. To all those waiting, use that resource. They really are nice people!

Hi, 5centsmom, what school is your DS going to?

DoDMERB website down from 13/July/2018 until 29/July/2018?

Same. It's ridiculous. Everything on OUR end is hurry up and get this done, and we do the best we can around two full-time work schedules to get the stuff in and it ends up being "Hurry up and wait." We got another remedial request on Friday as well, however, was unable to access it. Only God...

2 week NROTC Orientation - Middle of the Summer?

That's how DD is looking at it. Beats working at Best Buy! LOL! This process has made her a lot stronger already. (Big, long backstory about a medical DQ from CGA involved here - she's a fighter and just wants to serve!)

2 week NROTC Orientation - Middle of the Summer?

My DD also can attend indoc while not being medically waived, but will have to hand-deliver a sports physical from her physician saying she is physically able to complete indoc. The question is, will it end up being a waste of time if waivers aren't granted. Sure to be a learning experience...

2 week NROTC Orientation - Middle of the Summer?

DD is University of Minnesota Twin Cities NROTC-MO and will be participating in indoc at Great Lakes. Still dealing with a crapton of AMIs through DoDMERB and hoping for a waiver, but their website is down for 16 days for upgrades and maintenance. She's got to proceed as if she's a green light...

DoDMERB website down from 13/July/2018 until 29/July/2018?

DD is in the middle of addressing multiple AMIs for the Marine Corps ROTC program, and got yet another letter generated by DoDMERB today, but can't access it because the DoDMERB website says it's down for maintenance! For 16 days!!!! How can she expeditiously get them the information they need...

Which ROTC most likely to give tree nut DODMERB waiver?

New to this thread and need advice. DD got 4-year scholarships to AFROTC, AROTC and NROTC-MO, checked the peanut allergy box and was DQd. Air Force passed. No word from Army other than waiting for waiver review, Marines asked for AMI and allergist refuse to let her take oral challenge based on...
