    Switching from AFROTC to ROTC

A thought. My daughter had a Type 7 Scholarship with AF when she started as well. The Army ROTC contacted her pretty much immediately (before classes started) and asked her if she wanted to switch to Army. She advised she was on scholarship and he said he could help her get one through the...

Hospitalized in High School for Drinking

Two Stories that may be relevant: (1) My DD received a national scholarship. She "fudged" (to borrow from the above post) on her DODMerbs about MJ use. That didn't sit well with her so when she reported in on day 1 of freshman year to her Det she self-reported. On day 2 (I kid you not) of...

How would I fair getting a AFROTC scholarship?

Remember that even if you do not get a national scholarship they give our in-college scholarships too. So don't give up.

    AFROTC LEAD Questions

My DD was Max 3 this year. She didn't even take envelopes or stamps with her. We had a discussion about how much time and energy she would have for letter writing and I told her to not worry about it. It wasn't easy because I wanted to know how she was doing, but I took the approach that no...

AFROTC App - order of preferred colleges

... and congrats to your kiddo as well. I want to add that for my daughter, because she chose an out of state school, her 4 year national scholarship was reduced to 3 years. So she only had 1/2 academic that first year. We went back to Creighton and talked to them and they gave her a grant...

AFROTC App - order of preferred colleges

Hi. I guess I meant both. She could choose her degree and she chose psychology (but cannot change it after she starts without some serious paperwork) and could choose any school that accepts ROTC Scholarships. ROTC basically offered her $18,000/yr, or same as instate, so if she chose a more...

AFROTC App - order of preferred colleges

Hi. My DD received a national scholarship for AFROTC for pretty much anything she chooses to study. She chose a pretty expensive private out of state school. So with her ROTC scholarship she basically was offered $18,000/yr. BUT honestly if you have a kiddo that qualifies for a national...

AFROTC LEAD (Field Training) Bag Drag

DD just graduated Max 3 yesterday. Yay. She said there WAS yelling but nothing personal and mostly all deserved and nothing she couldn't deal with. Apparently she slipped on some water in the line and face planted in the dining hall, plates, glasses, etc., going one way and her body the other...

AFROTC did I ruin my chances?

My daughter had a 4 year scholarship and then lost it (long story) and then was given a 3+ in-college scholarship. I remember very clearly on both cases they were wanting her ACT scores. So work hard on that, it's been like a magic golden ticket for many things.

AFROTC App - order of preferred colleges

Also, a thought, kind of like an athletic scholarship, you should always pick a school you WANT whether you are in ROTC or not, because things happen and things change and you want to be at a school you truly want to be at, no matter what.

Are you on scholarship already? Under contract?

    Room and Board

Creighton University gives 100% room and board to all ROTC students on scholarship - they will even provide year around on-campus apartments for juniors and seniors.

When can I get my DODMERB?

I remember my daughter's was ordered after she completed her interviews and her nomination boards. Stay on top of all the paperwork, it gets a little crazy and they may have follow-up requests.

    AFROTC In College Scholarship tips?

I think my daughter's ACT (SAT) score played into it as well. She had a national scholarship, then lost it (long story) and was immediately given an in-college scholarship and I know they definitely wanted to know what her ACT score was. So yes, to all of the above and then this.

    Medical Disqualification?

I think when you have some kind of prior medical event they ask for the paperwork on it. My daughter had a fairly significant broken wrist and actually had a fractured hip - both her freshman year. They asked to see the paperwork and to be extra cautious I sent all the reports and then had her...
