ROTC instead of reapplying to SA

Update: DS’s DODMERB portal has been updated to read “medical waiver granted” so i guess it will become official in January when he returns to classes. It is my understanding his scholarship will start this coming semester since the medical issues have been resolved by the waiver. I’m so...

Contact PMS or ROO - Campus based scholarship

Thank you! It's at the University of Akron. He applied for 3 year but they gave him 3.5 years. As far as the other questions go, I honestly don't know.... as embarrassed as I am in admitting that. I know it is specific for the University of Akron only if that tells you anything. I need to...

Contact PMS or ROO - Campus based scholarship

My DS interviewed last week and received his conditional offer (pending successful medical) today. I was highly surprised by the quickness of the process.

ROTC instead of reapplying to SA

I don’t know the answer to this. I knew the waiver process was different but didn’t know the exam was valid for 2 years. His medical disqualification was due to past shoulder surgery in 10th grade so it will show up again.

ROTC instead of reapplying to SA

Thank you again! We aren’t counting on anything and quite the opposite I was encouraging him to hold off on the scholarship until his junior year just so he can really make sure he “likes” it and wants to pursue. I will say he seems to be very involved as he is doing the PT and other...

ROTC instead of reapplying to SA

Thank you very much! The application was just due last week and he already has an interview scheduled which I thought was super quick.... perhaps I’m just “used” to the painfully long process of the SAs. I feel as though I know a great deal about the SA process but nothing for ROTC. Does...

ROTC instead of reapplying to SA

Hello all, my DS was medically disqualified last year for the SAs he applied for. He moved on to Plan B and is doing well. He joined ROTC (army) without scholarship. He initially intended to reapply to SAs but has decided to remain at school and apply for the ROTC scholarship and become an...

Medically DQ - Can waiver be sought if reapplying

Good evening all. My DS received a nomination but was medically DQ due to a torn labrum almost 3 years ago (injury not the DQ). He was fully healed and released for all activities at the time of his medical exam. He is attending civilian college this fall, going to sign up for ROTC classes...

    Notice of Waiver Request?

Hi all - happy Easter! My son is an applicant for both AF and USMA and has been medically disqualified since December (history of shoulder instability). He has contacted his RC several times and all he can get out of them is "no waiver requested yet". My question is this - will the portals...

    Waiver request

My son has been waiting since dec 2 to see if they will request a waiver. It is our understanding they will request a waiver only if they determine the candidate is competitive enough. Assuming that will all shuffle out soon since the nominations were just due January 31. Good luck!

    waiver/appointment timing question

Thank you for the info. That’s what we had assumed. We don’t know where he is on the slate but we do know that 16 nominations were submitted for 2 open spots for USAFA and 11 nominations for 2 spots for USMA.

    waiver/appointment timing question

My DS is waiting to hear if USAFA will request a medical waiver or not. I know some are receiving appointment notices etc and it’s that time of year ... my question is, will USAFA request a waiver and if a waiver is granted offer the appointment at that time (that is assuming he receives an...

    Potential appointment question

My DS is waiting to hear if USMA will request a medical waiver or not. I know some are receiving appointment notices etc and it’s that time of year ... my question is, will USMA request a waiver and if a waiver is granted offer the appointment at that time (that is assuming he receives an...

USAFA Class of 2022 Appointment Thread

Sounds exactly like me - all of it. I initially resisted the idea (hated it actually if I'm being 100% honest) but as things have progressed over the months, I still have mixed feelings but now, I want it so badly for him because I see how much he wants it.... I guess it's all about our kids...

    How Competitive is My State?

Since everyone is asking... how about PA-12? I would guess it's more competitive for USNA and USMA more so than USAFA just due to the proximity but I could be wrong.

    Waiver request notification

Thanks for the info GoArmy! It’s good to hear the portal will change at least to give you an idea. Son was DQed on dec 3rd... his birthday ironically and the only feedback he has received is “no waiver request yet”.

    Waiver request notification

Does anyone know IF the USMA and/or USAFA portals get updated from “disqualified medically” to “waiver requested” or something similar to let you know a medical waiver has been requested? My DS has a nomination to both USMA and USAFA and both of his contacts at the academies has told him very...
