I was in a very similar situation, I had a direct appointment to USMA and declined it to attend NAPS. I just felt that I would best serve my country in the naval service. Your DS has two great opportunities and I hope he succeeds either way he chooses.

There should be a checklist of required actions in your portal, most of which cannot be done until you graduate high school. You will also get your notification of appointment in a very fancy folder via snail mail. I accepted my NAPS offer for the Class of 2019 a few weeks ago, see you there!
