    Re-Applying - Question About Timing

Thank you. He is going to open the application and fill out the page that will get him to Candidate status when the nominations are due. We know that his file will not be looked at until they have his transcript for his first semester so working though it over winter break and completing it...

    Re-Applying - Question About Timing

All good points. We will be discussing. It is a valid reason and its not just to procrastinate. Thank you for the feedback.

    Re-Applying - Question About Timing

I've read the re-applying sticky thoroughly and I do not see an answer to our question. DS will be finishing up his nomination applications before he leaves for college. We know these must be done by the due dates in October. For a valid reason, DS would like to postpone opening his online...

    Reapplying to USNA after A-school

I don't know how to say this without sounding super snooty or judgmental so let me start with, I am married to a nurse and I LOVE nurses. Your income as a nurse has a ceiling if you do not go back and become a practitioner or a CRNA. What is your end goal? I would say that attending the USNA...

    Letters of recommendation for re-applicants

He will likely apply to USNA and USAFA again. But He will put down for the local representative that USNA is his #1 instead of USAFA.

    Letters of recommendation for re-applicants

Yes, he received a nomination to USAFA from the local representative. He did not have one for USNA. We are in Texas. Local only gives a candidate one nomination so he chose USAFA. He did not get a Texas Congressman nomination.

    Letters of recommendation for re-applicants

I am mostly asking about the LoR for the MoC nom packages that are due in October so DS needs to get those done this summer before he leaves for college. Everything I've read about the process of completing the official application online with the USNA as a re-applicant, and all docs associated...

    Letters of recommendation for re-applicants

What are your thoughts regarding using the same people so their letters of recommendation would be virtually the same as last year for the nomination packages? These packages are due in October so we've decided DS should get them done this summer. Obviously his letters of recommendation for the...

    methacholine test for asthma

Quick question. I've done a search but don't see the answer. Has anyone seen an asthma DQ receive a waiver without being asked to have the methacholine test? Thanks.

DS Needs a waiver, what does it take?

My son received the NROTC scholarship. He was DQ'd at the time of the award (asthma). He reached out to his unit at his school and they responded: "Our policy as told to us from our command is to tell you to contact the medical liaison’s office (OD2A) at pnsc_nrotc_medical@navy.mil." He emailed...

    USNA/NROTC Asthma Waiver Granted

Ah... This makes sense. So when he reapplies next year to USNA he will again be in line to hopefully receive a waiver for Asthma. I could be wrong but based on the conversations my son had with DODMERB, our understanding is that once he got to the DQ status, the waiver requests flow the other...

    USNA/NROTC Asthma Waiver Granted

So DODMERB remedial had you take the MCT and you passed and yet you were still DQ'd? But now you've received the waiver. And the waiver is good for USNA and NROTC? (did you get an appointment to USNA?? If so CONGRATS!) I'm trying to decipher the difference in the process for you versus my son...

    USNA/NROTC Asthma Waiver Granted

DS is DQ'd for asthma. He received the NROTC scholarship and was told his file went to BUMED March 12th. They said it would take about 8 weeks to hear back about the waiver (that would be this week....). No one had instructed him to go for the metholcholine test. Did they instruct you to go have...

    Anyone still waiting to hear?

@kinnem So a kiddo with a medical DQ isn't on the NWL? That's so disheartening.

    Anyone still waiting to hear?

You don't know if you are on the NWL I don't believe. I'm not sure how they list where these kids are slated if one of the 150 picked. It cannot be to the congressman. It's all confusing to me. But what I've read is all kids with noms go on the NWL if they didnt win the slate. At this late point...

    Anyone still waiting to hear?

National Wait List. Im just a first year parent navigating this process, but I learned a month or so ago that all kids who have a nomination but do not win the slate go onto the NWL. USAFA by law offer appointments to the top 150 applicants on the list. I was hopeful that this is where my son...

    Anyone still waiting to hear?

Son has not heard anything today. 10 appointments reported on the appointment thread. If the long timers on this forum are correct then that translates to about 100 appointments went out on the portals this morning. I'm thinking its a good chance those are the NWL kiddos. I don't have a good...

    Waiting Club Outcome Thread

I'm a huge baseball/softball fan. Maybe that's why I'm so superstitious. But last time I posted on a thread like this (USNA 2 weeks ago) son received his TWE a few days later. I will come back and post after we know. Yes, I'm very silly sometimes.

    The Waiting Club

Looks like today may be the day. Son's portal is unchanged. He is so calm about it. Put on his Aggie Corps of Cadets shirt and headed to school.
