    Color Blind Restrictions - Waivers

Does color blindness always result in Naval Officers only going into a restricted line? Do USNA graduates with a color blindness (waiver) stand a better chance of cross commissioning if they realize that they are less interested in a restricted line commission as they approach service selection?

    Hot Takes/Unpopular Opinions?

Never purchased a single photo of any of our kids, except once at SAs. They aren't as ugly as this implies. Knew we were saving money:biggrin: but didn't realize how much. Always get a laugh out of the shrines people have to their kids.

    Class of 25 to scramble???

Scrambling at USMA = Shotgunning at USNA. Scrambling at USNA is when by Company, a class at USNA goes together to a new Company. I am unfamiliar with any similar event at USMA.

    Need some advice

You have until end of your 3/C year to make a decision, which means one more cycle as you indicate you are a 4/C. Explore rare possibility of cross commissioning in the meantime as you apply. I’m also aware of one who started over at a different DoD SA and currently there. But, haven’t heard of...

Pros and Cons to Three AMI Options

I don't think it will make a huge difference. The same tests will need to be run regardless of the provider. Private physician is at your expense - so that would be a reason to avoid it. And, the private provider might not know how to interpret what is sought in the AMI. Good luck.

    CFA Administrator question

Your son ought to inquire with his FFR or RC with respect to issues he needs clarified after reviewing primary source instructions. But, we have seen PE teachers who were also coaches administer the CFA.

    CFA Administrator question

If he is a PE teacher, he can administer the CFA. That he is also your son’s coach doesn’t matter.

    Preparing for CVW

I have two who did CVWs. Both thought jeans would have had them being slightly under dressed. But, both said that there were plenty of candidates in jeans. It is unlikely that anyone is keeping score about how you are clothed. And, the visit is mainly so you can determine what you think of USNA...

How important is senior course rigor

I recall a few discussions about this sort of thing with my kids. In the end, the way I recall them approaching it was to consider whether that extra AP course, in your case Physics, would likely result in lower grades across the board, or would it likely just wind up with them getting one lower...

    Yuk purge

Also hearing from our Cadet that out-processing is impacting Beast Cadre. When I asked why, I didn't really get a reason and the assumption made by our Cadet was that out-processing is pretty normal before affirmation particularly second detail since by that point in the summer Cadets are more...

    R-Day blood test?

While I cannot vouch for Prospective2019, as a Cow, she/he may be Beast Cadre and very familiar with how Beast I and/or II is being run this year. The class of 2023 would be in an especially good position to know what this year's Beast Barracks will look like.

Thank you posting this article. It provides informed discussion of law, policy, and historical perspective, and IMO provides the correct basis for looking at Ensign Kinley's unfortunate conduct.

    USMA Second Step Kit Opening

I like your approach. Still, an SOE is a bit different than a recommendation. You might consider explaining that the SAs, including USMA seek SOEs and/or recommendations from 11th or 12th grade teachers and see if you turn out to be an exception to your teacher's "two year" rule.
