    2028 State Nominations Thread

It’s been two years for us. I recall my cadet being notified of interviews in late fall and had an interview with his Rep in October and Senator later (maybe early December?) As far as difficulty, I think that depends on your district. From the Rep, I recall that he and his friends were all...

    AP test and the USAFA

I’m pretty sure my son got to take a much shortened version of this history class (12 lessons) because he got a 5 on the AP test. (He did for one of the history classes anyway, but I think it was this one.)

    I-Day information

Lots of good advice on previous threads about this- 1. They need to bring their list items on I day and not extras (except underclothes). They don’t even need socks- those are issued. Remember that they have to carry everything around in their left hand for hours. Backpack with items is best. No...

    I-Day information

I echo talking with your son about his preferences for I-day. I was emotional, and it is about the only time I have ever seen my husband cry, but my ‘26er hopped out of the car as if he couldn’t get away from us fast enough. I think, though, he was glad we were both there (and his little...

    2027 State Nominations Thread

This time last year my son received nominations and it included West Point (and he was no where close to finishing that application.) I made him finish, and it was the first appointment to come through. Finish it up- you just never know! (He ended up at USAFA, but would have happily attended...

Son is visiting usafa tomorrow what are some can’t miss places l.

As of June, the self guided items are all still open, and you can watch from the wall next to the chapel. Basic Cadets are up at Jacks this week (March back is Friday), so there will probably not be much happening down on the Terrazzo. If you have time to take in a show at the planetarium I...

    ROTC Speeding Ticket

And that should be 21 years of age in Georgia. Blame my fumble thumbs.

    ROTC Speeding Ticket

Are you licensed in TN? Check their laws about young drivers. I can tell you that in Georgia at that speed and if you are under 22 years of age, it is a six month suspension. Make sure to contact the court/prosecutor and see if you can attend driver’s safety to get a speed reduction. Don’t just...

Becoming a USAA Member as an Appointee

pnwski - check your account - that $25 is probably your balance. (I've never known USAA to charge a fee in order to open an account, and I could have been wrong earlier when I said $50 minimum to open - I probably just put more money in to my son's accounts than was necessary.)

Becoming a USAA Member as an Appointee

I know it is $50 to open. Inactive usually is more related to activity than balance.

Becoming a USAA Member as an Appointee

USAA for a checking/savings account - Yes. My understanding is that he can and that USAA anticipates this. I don't know how they feel about 17 yoa cadets whose parents do not already have an account . . . CC - I haven't opened one for my son yet - it needs to happen.

Becoming a USAA Member as an Appointee

Pluto - you can call USAA and it should get straightened out. When I called on a weekend to open an account for my son (who is 17, but I am a USAA member of 34 years), there was mention that a certain department needed for appointees was only open during business hours during the week, so call...
