Yes! They can contact friends and family. Our son called us several times that day. He was with a sponsor family relaxing with a couple other Doolies. We did FaceTime, too! It was great.

It seems that they call it BCT, but it's a focus on getting ready for academics. So, maybe it's not as much marching, memorizing, standing at attention, etc. I also heard they meet with advisors. At some point, they move into another dorm. I was trying to figure it out, recently. My DS is a 2026.

For Doolie Day Out, it's my understanding that all doolies will go, right? It may not be their family for the year. I don't think most of them have been told the process to get a family.

My son was a reapplicant. He's a 26'er and is there now! He took college courses last year and had a rigorous workout schedule. He definitely kept up with his running. It sounds like you're on the right track. Work hard and stick with your goal!
